kbordson 8 #32 May 3, 2005 Other: I want the ablility to steal/borrow other peoples powers but I guess I'm kind of a Rogue thinker on that one.... - or sneak into their lives for a little bit to make stories, kinda like a Pretender (that was a kick ass show). If I had to choose though, it would be the telekinesis. Telepathy would not be fun... way too much babble and too much psych stuff, yuck! Energy blasts/super strength? Why use force when you can use finesse? Seduction? Not that it wouldn't be amusing for a day or two... but get real, who wants it to be that easy? Besides, if you couldn't turn it off, think of the cuse it would honestly become. No thank you! Ultra intellegence... again fun for a little, but then everything would be based on logic and rationality... where's the fun in that? Mostly I'm happy just being little ole me in my little reality. Think "Jonathan Livingston Seagull." 3-5) Telepathy might help kick a strong guy's ass. But how would it replace super strength if you are in the woods and a tree falls on you and no one is there with super strength to lift it? Your paradigm seems solidly locked into the mode of "could I use this to dominate other people?" Have you considered that? Telepathy doesn't trump shape-changing, because this is not about "findng the shape-changed Waldo." What about the pleasure of being a soaring eagle or condor, or swimming like a dolphin around the Keys? And as for energy blasts, those could have uses that telepathy doesn't cover at all. Personal defense is one. You might read a guy's mind and know he's going to rob you, but if it happens all of the sudden, how does that help you defend yourself? Knowing he's thinking, "I'm gonna shoot this guy and take his wallet" helps you how? 6) Nothing says that reading the thoughts of the superintelligent would enable you to grasp the concepts. If that were true, why would you not be able to understand any and all concepts you could possibly read in books? I know that I could read the actual printed words in a text on quantum physics, but I doubt I would comprehend it -- at least without guidance. 7) Possibly. 8) The power would be to charm them into being seduced without having to do the clumsy, real-world actions or say the real-world words. Entranced. Think "Dracula." And even if you could know what a woman would want, you are not necessarily the guy who could give her that. What if you read her thoughts and realized that she wanted a big Fabio-type? Odo was always one of the best characters on Deep Space Nine, along with his whole race, who all lived together in a lake - or rather they WERE the lake. Totally cool... Turning into another person, a man or a woman, any kind of animal, a plant, or even a piece of furniture, or anything. Wouldn't need a rig to skydive anymore, I could turn into a bird or a bat, or just "grow" a Velocity canopy if I wanted to. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !
