murps2000 86 #51 April 28, 2005 Do you know if, like other airbus types, this one is controlled fly-by-wire, with a joystick? I've gotten the impression that some pilots don't prefer that settup.

Feeblemind 1 #60 April 28, 2005 Key word there is BIG!! For the test flight it had a take off weight of 464 tons, 75% maxium authorized take off weight. It's gonna be awhile before the airports can handle the weight. 2005 Anchorage Bangkok Chicago Doha Dubai Frankfurt Hong Kong 2006-2007 Indianapolis Jeddah Kuala Lumpur London (Heathrow) Los Angeles Melbourne 2007-2009 Paris San Fransico Singapore Sydney Tokyo Plus they only have orders for 154 of them and need to sell an additional 100 just to break even on the 13 billion dollar R&D costs. When will the 7E7 or 787 or whatever they're calling it be rolled out? make it's first flight? i'm so impressed w/ how quickly airbus has gotten this behemouth built and flown. seems to have been every efficient. -the artist formerly known as sinker

Remster 30 #65 April 28, 2005 From:http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/ArticleNews/TPStory/LAC/20050426/RACE26/TPBusiness/?query=air+canada+boeing QuoteAir Canada will take delivery of the first three 777s next year, and the first 787 is scheduled to be delivered in 2010. Air Canada intends to replace more than 60 of its aging wide-body aircraft over the next decade. Included in the order for 777s is an undetermined number of 777 cargo planes, which Boeing is preparing to formally launch within the next few weeks. livendive 8 #68 April 28, 2005 QuoteHi, Just wondering about the bits of kit that I've circled... Yeah, those look like storage compartments to me, hinged on the outboard side. Still, if I try to change the perspective I'm looking at them from, I can see how they also look like outboard facing computer monitors. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" ypelchat 0 #74 April 29, 2005 QuoteAs ugly and inefficient as the European Union itself. The European Union point, is moot! Whenever a new aircraft is launched, we should all be proud. Wether it's from Boeing or Airbus... We will all benefit from their research and achievements. The whole world is moving toward the same direction, just as these two companies are heading to. Better fuel efficiency, less noise, more passengers carried, longer range, less polluting engines, anyone has better ideas??????????? Competition is good! Competition pushes mankind forward. We should all be backing Boeing AND Airbus, and all other airplane manufacturers. They're all doing their best to make better airplanes. As fuel costs are skyrocketing, soon, we will face difficult decisions. We'll have to rethink our inconsiderate use of fossile fuel. To give you an idea, regular unleaded gas is selling for $0.994 a liter, in Quebec city... That's nearly $4.54 a gallon... (Canadian Imperial gallon is 4.54 Liter, VS 3.78 liter for a U.S gallon) It's like U.S $3.13/gallon. World oil supply is not unlimited. Big S.U.Vs will have to be phased out, pretty soon, as more people will have to share the same transportation means. Bigger airplanes, taking off, fewer times/day..., to fewer destinations, carrying more passengers... It's coming..... I nearly had tears to my eyes, when the A380 made it's first flight. The Boeing 787 will probably do the same to me, when it does it's maiden flight. Yves.

What about large trucks, vans, high performance cars and large luxury cars that also get lousy mileage?People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
