McLovin 0 #1 September 27, 2008 Cutaway from what might have been a spinning line over and wrapped the deploying reserve bridle around his body. Line over - the line going over the top of the canopy? Deploying reserve bridle - the bridle wrapped around them instead of pulling behind in the wind?

Best way to do that is take the First Jump Course (FJC) at a Drop Zone (DZ) and, assuming you are in the U.S., read the Skydiver's Information Manual (SIM). Available at USPA.orgMy reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Gato 0 #6 September 28, 2008 Quote Line over - the line going over the top of the canopy? Correct, but not THE line - it could have been any line. Quote Deploying reserve bridle - the bridle wrapped around them instead of pulling behind in the wind? Almost correct; means that the webbing attaching the reserve pilot chute to the reserve freebag somehow got wrapped around his body during deployment of the reserve. You most likely will not encounter a spinning line-over on your first jumps - not to say it can't happen, but it's not likely. As others have said, don't worry too much about stuff like this right now - just listen to your instructors, and don't read too many incident reports. It's too easy to absorb bad info, or stuff that just doesn't relate to you as a student yet. (I'm up way too damn early to be posting here.)T.I.N.S.
