sunshine 2 #4 April 25, 2005 Quoteyep i watched it and i cried too... but wtf? those people will not be able to afford the bills in that new home! Or the insurance on the trucks. But hey, it was still awesome and they were sooo happy. When the little boy said his room was "junk" that was hilarious. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! dgm458 0 #6 April 25, 2005 They don't show everything on the shows. Usually, they strike a deal with some local non-profit agency to help with the bills for an established period of time...usually one year. After that they're on their own, but it's gives them a break-in period to know what they will be looking at. As for the truck...it's paid for so full coverage isn't required and not every state requries liability coverage so they may not have to carry insurance on the vehicle. david-------------------------------------------------- Failure to prepare is preparing to fail
skymedic 0 #7 April 25, 2005 There is only one state left in the union that does not require at least liability...can't remember which..but it's down south somewhere... Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....
mouth 0 #8 April 25, 2005 Usually the houses are so efficient that even BillVon would approve. The builders really put a LOT of thought into making the house so that the family can afford it. As for the cars I think they work a deal with insurance even. I know on one show the house used solar energy and they bought a family SUV and each kid got a BillVon hybred car (6 or 7 cars!). -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit. sunshine 2 #9 April 25, 2005 I was hoping there was some deal made to help cover their bills. It was awesome when the announced the Dad would receive his prescriptions for free. It was just sooo amazing. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!
Squeak 17 #10 April 25, 2005 Is any effort made to help them sustain their new lifestyles? (don;t know the show here in Oz) It sounds like they do a lot of short term good, but what stopps them from going back to where they were. Do they help with jobs or training or other such stuff??You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing? slotperfect 7 #11 April 25, 2005 My wife watches 85% more TV than I do. 70% of that is reality shows and home improvement shows. Therefore, I catch a lot of residual glimpses at those shows when they're on. I will actually sit down and watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition when it's on - it's a great show. I watch it as much as I can.Arrive Safely John
