boinky 0 #1 April 21, 2005 *In a year, a shark goes through more than 20,000 teeth. (Probably because they've left them in people) *Sharks have no bones in their bodies- only cartilage. (People pierce THEIR cartilage, so why couldn't they pierce the little bastard in "Jaws?" ) *The Great White has no natural enemies and it never gets sick. (Probably because of all those vitamin-taking yuppies that they bite/eat) *Shark skin is covered with small teeth-like denticles which can tear human skin on contact. It was once used as sand-paper by coastal wood-workers. (Uh huh...and you wonder why I'm not getting into the ocean!) *A plankton-eating Whale shark caught off Pakistan measured over 41 ft and weighed over 33,000 pounds. (Sushi's up!) *An attacking shark can sometimes be confused and diverted by a hard blow to the nose, or a poke into the eye or nostrils. (Oh yeah, and if you miss, you'll be one more vitamin-taking yuppie that keeps it from ever being sick) Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? Rebecca 0 #5 April 21, 2005 If you're ever attacked, go for the gills and the eyes. Hey, did y'all hear about the surfer in Australia who fought off a shark and continued surfing? He took two chomps to the board, and then used it to push/beat the shark away. And he was totally calm about it. That's some balls!! Here's the story you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

The only reason we tower over them is because of the weapons we use to kill them. If we tried to kill them using nothing (like they do) they'd win everytime. freeflynick 0 #12 April 21, 2005 You also have more chance of being killed (in America) by a vending machine than by a shark!! Since I live here, and am within striking distance of both Americans and American vending machines, I can't laugh too hard........!! Hobbes: "How come we play 'War' and not 'Peace'?" nanook 1 #13 April 21, 2005 QuoteNo natural enemies... except us NOAA was able to confirm suspicions that a killer whale will attack a great white (they like their livers) for food, even when there are seals around. I still rather pet a Orca at Sea World instead of a shark though._____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
