jumperconway 0 #1 April 21, 2005 Last weekend Gemini, INSANEDADDY and myself did a demo jump into the dealership of "John Eagle Honda". The 11 O'clock and 1 O'clock demo's went without incident. After we were finished packing after the second jump, a sherif pulled up in the parking lot next to our booth! I heard him asking the booth of radio station KRBE 104, next to us about skydivers. I walked over and let him know that we were done. He asked if we were all OK and responded that we were fine and all landed in the designated landing area just fine! His response was, "Some stupid woman called 911 and said that someone's parachute didn't work" The first jump , I was fairly conservative landing in a landing area I had only been told about, only carving a 90 to land. Feeling more confident on the second, I hooked a 180 in from about 500 feet on my "big" canopy, a Xaos 88-21! I actually had to to pull out a little to avoid the people standing in my path in the parking lot which was in the landing area. Apparrently she saw the hook turn from the freeway and lost me behind a building and thought I went in! We were landing behind the dealership away from the freeway! Insanedaddy and Gemini were landing straight in. Thought this was totally funny!

kallend 2,027 #4 April 21, 2005 Better a good Samaritan calls help for a non-incident than no-one calls when there is an incident.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

Had there been an incident, the help would have been way too late! See ya in Perris next month for the 100+ sequentials?

Professor 0 #8 April 21, 2005 Whuffo 911 calls are the best! I'm the most offensive hook turner on my dz, which is adjacent to a highway, and I've had 3 911 calls in the 4 years I've jumped there. One of them was a woman calling and reporting that she'd seen someone landing 'attached to a go-kart' . All we can figure is she saw me landing with my wingsuit and got confused. One of our pilots had 9 calls on him from landings. One guy called the cops and swore he had seen the plane 'strike the ground, burst into flames, and explode'. Getting one call in just two jumps is pretty good, though. I'm going to have to try to pick up the pace. Ted Like a giddy school girl.

INSANEDADDY 0 #11 April 21, 2005 I had a blast last weekend doing the Demo. Yes I owe beer. All those damn dealerships look the same from 3k feet. Jump run was a little off on the first jump. We got it worked out on the second. Next time we should jump smoke and a flag. You dont't get to choose how you're going to die. Or when.......You can only decide how you're going to live........NOW. -BASE 1605 Night BASE
tigra 0 #12 April 21, 2005 Oh come on- what fun is a demo without at least a couple of broken legs and one roughed up spectator? Like THAT'S going to make the news! Seriously, its nice to hear about a demo without any injuries! Pretty impressive to have a pro rating on a 88!! (or was this an "open-field" demo?) And we wonder why insurance for demo's are going through the roof....
