TLob456 0 #1 January 30, 2009 I am looking into purchasing either a Sabre 2 or a Safire 2 WL to 1.23. One thing I like about the Sabre is how well it holds value, is that similar in a Safire? Any other major differences anyone has experience with between the two? Thanks for you time and help. #jumps: 120 years: 1 exit weight:
Joellercoaster 6 #3 January 30, 2009 Or answering the question about value? Sabres2s do hold their value well. But even try finding a secondhand Safire2... the fact that people jump them, but you hardly ever see them advertised, is a big hint. They don't seem to need advertising -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. Buying a new canopy is not a good investment. Buying a popular mid range canopy is a bit better, because those are much more easier to sell. Usually the best deal is getting something with 150-200 jumps, price can be 30-50% of the new price.
tbrown 26 #8 February 1, 2009 QuoteOr Search? I'm going to get rather merciless about this. "Search" is a euphemism for "go away kid, you bother me". If this OP's question bothers you, simply refrain from adding your worthless opinion. Nobody is holding a gun to your head forcing you to answer. As far as Sabre vs Safire goes, both are second generation canopies by now, Sabre2 and Safire2. I don't jump either one. What my friends who do jump them tell me is that the Safire2 has a very soft but slow opening that may or not be acceptable to you. The Sabre2 has a quicker opening, but one that tends to be off heading more often and occasionally packs a spanking. But ANY canopy can slam you on opening, including the Pilot canopies I jump. I'm told the Safire2 has an incredible flare. And a lot of people say that the Sabre2 is a good canopy to begin to learn to swoop with. Guess the real answer is to DEMO the crap out of them both and see which one you like better. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !

But given a choice, I'd rather be proactive than complacent. so yeah, OP should have used search. No chew me out, tbrown.
