question to all about ear carticlige piercings

Recommended Posts

okay so i'm going to get my ear pierced inthenear futre and am wonder one thing though, how long does it really take to heal? i'm atleast going to get a simple cartilage piercingonmy ear, but might end up getting one of those that goes through two places withthe same piece of jewlry (industrial?)....my reason for asking is that i will getit done and then have about a month to have it in before i will have to take it out for 8 hours two daysin a row..... but willprobly try andget a "spacer" made i can put into the two holes to try and hide it.... that will also playa factor in placment for the hiding factor....

I'm thinking ask your recruiter or other Reserve/NG females. They probably have the two-days-hidden-but-keep-the-hole-open thing down to a science, including what works for whatever bodypart gets pierced.

You can have it good, fast, or cheap: pick two.

other Reserve/NG females

how about i just ask females and don't add in "other".... some would thing it would sound like i'm one of them......... and the problemisn't hidingit whenit is healed, just when it is healing....

i wouldn't advise getting any piercing so close to going to the field. beware of the eyebrow piercing effecting the seal on your pro-mask. i've seen it work for some but be difficult for others. best of luck.

I got a piercing called an orbital (mid-ear, with a ring going through 2 places), mine took like a year to heal completely, with no discomfort at all! Had to learn to use the phone with the other hand/ear, and had to learn to sleep on the other side too, wouldn't do it again, and I don't take it out;) good luck!

Each person is different but it can take up to 6 mons. for cartalidge (however you spell it) or longer. Some people heal up quick, those that don't usually have long hair that wraps around the back of it, they use a lot of hair product, etc.

Clean it dilagently and you'll be fine.

THe inner of my ear took well over 4 months to heal. The other one took about 2 1/2 months...Cartlidge isn't the best at healing..good luck. Industrials are cool. This is my whuffo friend Bobby (attached). Got 2 of 'em. X marks the spot, baby!!!!! :)

I have my ears done, and it only took about 2 1/2 weeks before I could take the stud out of the top of my ear.
Listen to those who say you can't sleep on it, they're right. If your only getting one side done it won't be too hard to cope with sleeping on your other side.
I found that it was easier for my cartilage piercings to heal than just regular ear piercings.

Judging by people I know who have had it done: if your ear is not very rigid it usually doesn't take as long to heal. I can bend my ear in half, those who can't do that usually take longer for theirs to heal.

Hope that helps!

I have two in my left ear.

Depends on the person. Keith says it took him two months... One would have been ample for me. In fact, I was taking mine out for two hours a night, almost every night, and nearly from the moment I had it done. I don't think it hindered my healing time at all. I was just a little more cautious about cleaning and disinfecting at night without damaging the tissue.

In a months time, when you have to take it out, you'll know instictively if the inside is healed enough or not. If it's not, 8 hours is a while dude, but you'll be fine just sticking a tiny length of fishing line through it while it's out.
