Steel 0 #26 April 15, 2005 QuoteI know, I know. It's just something I want to try. Not a mechanical bull, I want to try it on a real bull. So where does a guy from NYC go to try it? I get to NC 3 or 4 times a year. Any advice? There is a guy from NYC on a bull for you. Where did he do it? Davie, Florida, and couple of times in Zolfo Springs, Florida. Its a lot of fun, but I will tell you what I was told before my first ride. If you don't want to get hurt, don't do it. Because one way or another you will get hurt. Cheers,If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read. mnealtx 0 #27 April 15, 2005 QuoteIs that Harrisburg Pa??? I can easily get there. Skydive Friday Bull rides Saturday? I know there is a real possibility of getting hurt. It's just something I want to do. Dude, you're looking at putting yourself on top of a full ton of pissed off hamburger, with *HORNS*.... Do you have any riding experience, horses or something? If so, how long? Ever had to ride out a bucker? How much time/effort are you looking into putting into this? Are you willing to go down for several weekends to talk to the riders, watch and learn? The more "no" answers, above, the higher your chances of being injured... Someone with no riding experience, that wanted to just to go down and do it on the spot, I'd put at about a 60%+ chance of being injured in some way...and that's WITH safety equipment...Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. Dangit, I musta done it wrong... all I met was a medic while he was strapping up my ribs!! ___________________________ Dang, dood! They were supposed to take you to the hospital with the good lookin' nurses! It ain't like t.v. where they show some 'reality' thing and some ol' kid gets on a bull for the first time. Have you ever ridden a horse, bare-back? It's all about balance and getting experience. It's not a carnival ride! Like was said too, those things got a pair of 'stickers' that'll damn sure get ya'. Good luck to ya'! Chuck
 Brian425 0 #32 April 15, 2005 I can ride a horse and I used to motorcross for about 5 years. I figure that the idea of balance will be similar to motorcross and horse back riding. I realize that it is not a joke. And I need to be careful doing it. But the fact is I want to try it. So I just might click on the clicky above and give it a shot. What's the worst that can happen???? The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand. I strongly recommend SOME sort of training - Sankey's camp is probably as good as it gets. As to what can happen, my OP on the thread mentioned 6 busted ribs, and I got off easy. Just a couple more inches and it could've been REALLY ugly. On another thought of "what could happen", clickyMike I love you, Shannon and Jim. If, I recall correctly, the place mentioned earlier, is where Bobby Delvechio, former PRCA rider from the Bronx, learned to ride broncs and bulls. anyhow, good luck to ya'!!!
