humanflite 0 #1 February 7, 2009 Just found out about this. Hip Ring and 4 Ring main lift web inspections mandatory due to the possiblity of the sewing machine metalwork or needle contacting the Hip Ring and or webbing on these rigs. For Javelins manufactured between 01 Sept 2008 to 31 Dec 2008 See here for the full Sunpath bulletin and checks for your Rigger to make. http://www.sunpath.com/downloads/bulletins/SPSB005-COMPLETE.pdf

GLIDEANGLE 1 #3 February 9, 2009 When I read Service Bulletins I often wonder three things... How was this defect discovered? How was the defect created during manufacturing? (New employee? Equipment out of calibration? etc) What will it cost the manufacturer to repair the affected rigs? The choices we make have consequences, for us & for others! jtval 0 #4 February 14, 2009 When I read Service Bulletins I often wonder three things... How was this defect discovered? I havent read any incidents where harnesses were ripping and people dying. So, I'd like to think that a few riggers found some issue and upchanneled it to sundance. they looked at the trend, went through their logs and found it could have been caused by the needle. Ever see how tight and close the the hardware those seams are sewn. How was the defect created during manufacturing? (New employee? Equipment out of calibration? etc) I got no guess on that What will it cost the manufacturer to repair the affected rigs? Not nearly as much as a human life.My photos My Videos

Pokerstar 0 #7 February 15, 2009 As a newbie, I have a question about this..... Is the issue that the needle strike raised a bit of the metal on the D ring, that could ultimately weaken the MLW and cause it to fail? (Sorry if this is obvious, but, I just want to be certain I understand) ThanksFortunately, I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug, uh, regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber. --- The Dude ---
jtval 0 #8 February 15, 2009 I'm no rigger, yet but yes. If there is a burr in the metal on the ring it will slowly cut through the webbing. Its a good idea to periodically check this on your rig, too. If, in the odd event you do something to cause a burr it can end badly. My photos My Videos

whoops 0 #10 February 18, 2009 short movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaZ5aNpi1Ew You can see defects and how to locate them. While you're moving up and down, nothing important will happen, if you're moving from left to right then you'll find it immediatelly :) You can move type 7 from one side of ring as much as possible to another, then y'll discover something :(
