To me it looks quite sad that idiots are allowed to by snakes as pets. Because the total moron who let that poor snake get loose and end up this way is that guy to blame. And yes he should be arrested and charged with animal cruelty. If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. And yes he should be arrested and charged with animal cruelty. Some pet snakes have been known to "escape" by forcing their way through the top of the tank or squeezing through a doorway or whatnot... I'm reminded of a lost snake incident in Birmingham, AL where this guy, I swear he was a dead ringer for heavy metal rocker Alice Cooper, owned a huge python named "Alissss". Alissss was said to be at least 12 to 14 feet long. The owner and snake lived in an apartment in the Southside area. The owner was in a small heavy metal band, and he liked to practice with his lead guitar, and he said the snake liked to "feel" the music. Well, one day the snake was gone. The whole area was up in arms over it and people were bringing in their small pets inside (cats and dogs). The owner tried "coaxing" his snake back home by playing his guitar with a loud amplifier on the porch... like that'll work... After 2 weeks, they found the snake safe and sound, albeit a little hungry. Call it a story with a happy and ssssssssafe ending. But hey, you think about it, that snake could have ended up getting into somebody's car to get warm, just like the one whose pictures I got via email..."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
Rainbo 0 #32 April 4, 2005 I got an extremely nice 10 footer back in the Sandwich days when one fell off the rear axle of an 18 wheeler on the expressway. Brought traffic to a screeching halt. A friend from the DZ knew I raised large snakes and grabbed from the roadway because the cops were afraid to touch it. And it is not that uncommon for them to escape accidently. Many people do not realize the strength of these snakes and they force their way out of containment devices that are much to flimsy for snakes of this size. They also do not realize how small of hole they can go through to get out of a house once they are free. Too bad for this guy he picked the wrong warm spot to hang out.Rainbo TheSpeedTriple - Speed is everything "Blessed are those who can give without remembering, and take without forgetting." dgm458 0 #34 April 5, 2005 Off subject, but talking about these pets getting loose reminded me of something I read this week. I get a newsletter from a wild cat sanctuary in northern Arkansas. They recently "rescued" a lion from a guy because it became too aggressive for him to keep in his home. The guy took the lion out into the national forest in Arkansas and RELEASED it. How would you like to find that thing while deer hunting (it was deer season when it happened). Anyway, the lion walked home to the guys house....over sixty miles away. He called the sanctuary the next day. Just a story.-------------------------------------------------- Failure to prepare is preparing to fail
