New Music

Recommended Posts

Ok, I can't contribute much on the skydiving knowledge side of things. I plan on working on that over the coming years though. So I thought I'd suggest a not so well known band and ask what kinds of music you guys like.

The band: Doves New CD: Some Cities
Some samples here: http://doves.musicblog.co.uk/archives/audio/index.html

What 'not so well known' bands do you like?

Doves are great, been out over here for ages 'There goes the fear' and 'pounding' are great tracks from the 'Last Broadcast' Album.
Other good tracks at the moment...

Willy Mason - Oxygen
The Bravery - Honest Mistake
Kaiser Chiefs - Oh My God
Razorlight - Somewhere else
The Caesers - Jerk It Out
Jem - They
Stereophonics - Dakota
Futureheads - Hounds of Love

I have all those tracks, i would send them to you if you e-mailed me at hollandnigel@aol.com but that would be illegal ;)

Fu Manchu

That band is sort of kinda known, depending on what culture you're into and where you live. Its rock, no worries, its not a country band for all you anti-country folks.

I have a good one for you if you can find them, and if you do let me know

Manchild: They were a band that played at Roses in South Beach, This Guy Demetrius Brown ROCKS, along with the rest of the band Eric, drummer. Javier, percusion. and the base player who's name escapes me right now.

They were light years ahead of there time. D Brown was like a Jack Johnson type player, with an incredible amount of talent.

Any body heard of this band or D Brown?

My brother has all the Manchild Albums (dunno how many there are)
Snow Patrol are cool too,
don't have the rest of the Stereophonics album yet,

ummmmm HE suggested a "not so well known" band and then asked what kind of music we like. Didn't really see where he was asking for only "not so well known" bands as far as what we liked, but thank you for being the thread police.:|:P

Keep it up buddy and I'll write you a ticket !:P

Actually reread the first post thats exactly what he asked for .....:)

The new Doves CD is pretty good, but I think their last one was better. Depending on your circle of influence, these bands may seem obscure or not:

Porcupine Tree
Patrick Wolf
Bright Eyes
Anathema
...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead (new album rocks)
Lou Barlow (ex-member of Dinosaur Jr, frontman for Sebadoh and the Folk Implosion, one of the most prolific songwriters of the 90's and he just now realeased his "solo" debut... worth listening to alone for his acoustic cover of RATT'S Round and Round)
Josh Rouse
Death Cab For Cutie

and many more...
