kelpdiver 2 #26 March 29, 2005 Quotei did the same last yr.. but i dont save 150$ a month!. I think if you add the cost to insure and then $ from gas saved. It's probably costing me 100$/ yr. still worth it for the easy of parking around chicago streets when i go out $300+ in tires every 7500 miles versus $600 every 75000 also eats away, along with the required premium gas. I'm buying time in the day, and my sanity.

billvon 3,070 #31 March 29, 2005 I got a 2005 Prius a few weeks ago and modified it so it stays in EV-only mode for as long as possible. A few days ago I managed to drive from home to work in pure EV mode - no gas used at all. Not all that useful yet, since there's no external charger, so when I drive home the gas engine starts and recharges the battery. But once I can figure out how to put an AC charger on the traction battery, my gas usage (for local trips at least) should go down to zero.
AggieDave 6 #32 March 29, 2005 Quotebut it don't do you a damn bit of good if you turn around and put $150 worth of radios, sheet metal and assorted crap on your bike every month... No doubt! I've spent a lot on customizing my bike this month...So far I'm up to $10 and I have a new sissybar...$6 for 6' of 1/2" cold rolled steel, $3 for some paint and a couple hours of my time to bend the steel and do some welding.Man I wish I could spend $150 a month on metal and such to do all the things I'd like to do.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Foursprouts 0 #35 March 30, 2005 OH MY GOD, I can't beleive you are complaining about the price of gass in the US. I live in england and here it really sucks. About 90p a liter thats $1.62 a liter and yes there are about 4 liters to the gallon so that makes it a FU**ING INCREDIBLE $6.48 A GALLON. I am going to start riding a bike to work as food is cheaper.

GrumpySmurf 0 #38 March 30, 2005 Think 87 oct is 2.09 a gallon here in SE Minnesota - have to use 92 in the bike, and I think it was like $7 to fill it up after 3 days of riding around and one 70 mile trip. Wasn't it like a buck a gallon back in '99 or something? Time to invade Canada, eh? They got some oil up dere

Slurp56 0 #40 March 30, 2005 I paid a little over $2.80/gal in Edmonds, WA a couple weeks back, but its typically $2.30-$2.40 in WA. Never costs me more than $20 to fill the tank and I've been getting around 450Km to the tank, whatever that works out to be.
