crozby 0 #262 January 7, 2005 QuoteSomeone on this site...I'm sure you can guess who, sent a letter to my boss claiming all kinds of stuff about me posting controversial information on the internet and associating it with my company and our clients along with links to my posts here. Be careful, there are lots of whack jobs on the internet. Fortunately I got a nice severance to find a new job. Fucked up. Cya. Fucked up indeed. i've read loads of your posts in SC and i really can't understand what would drive someone to do this to you. the people running this site need to think long and hard about how to deal with this and in particular how to re-establish the confidence of the members - everyone wiping their profiles is *not* the right way to go in the long term. good luck and hope you keep posting here - SC would miss you if you didn't come back. tigra 0 #267 January 7, 2005 I do agree that people are placing to much stress on the moderators or Sangiro to "fix" this, but the fact remains that someone who is a part of this COMMUNITY allegedly went out of their way to harm someone else, using this site as their "weapon". It sucks, and it is a violation of trust but perhaps an eye opener to all of us. Even worse, its not the first time. No moderator can prevent an unbalanced individual from taking a personal grudge or email conversation too far, BUT if the identity of the person who did this is discovered, and its proven to be true, whoever it is shouldn't be allowed here anymore. Causing someone to lose their job is a lot worse than calling them a moron, isn't it? Sort of the ultimate personal attack, don't you think? (Barring physical violence, of course....) catfishhunter 2 #268 January 7, 2005 Sucks BUT....everyone seems to be missing the point that if the company didn't have reason to fire him they wouldn't have. Someones political veiws are not reason to fire anyone. For a company to terminate an employee there must have been rules broken. lesson to be learned is don't break your companies policies and you won't get fired. Best of Luck and if you are afraid of being fired for being on DZ.com when you shouldn't be then don't be on DZ.com when you shouldn't...pretty simple really..like now...break is over so I am outta here...peace MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT Life is Short and we never know how long we are going to have. tigra 0 #270 January 7, 2005 Nope, I didn't miss the point at all. Eye opener- like I said. The idea of legal action seems kind of pointless, too. That said, I still think its terribly wrong for someone to go out of their way to cause another person to lose their job in this manner because he (or she) didn't agree with something he had to say. Its twisted. And if that person can be positively identified, I think they should be booted from here, that's all I'm saying.
tigra 0 #271 January 7, 2005 Also a valid point. Accusations are useless unless you can prove them.

Michele 1 #273 January 7, 2005 Andi, I don't think anyone is blaming HH or the greenies...I think this has just been a jolting experience for many people, and people are wondering now. Internet stalking is not uncommon. Someone recently was murdered because of her relationship formed on the net. We hear all the time about the children who're lured away by a bad guy because of interactions on the net. But I don't think anyone is blaming DZ.com or any of the administrators. That said, if this is someone whose presence can be confirmed to be part of the community, then I think he should be banned. I don't care to know who it is, per se, but I think his participation in the forums should be eliminated. (And the perjorative He/his/him is done in the general sense...a woman could have done this, too.) HeatherB 0 #274 January 7, 2005 I agree. I really don't have sympathy for people who get fired because they are on the internet or making personal phone calls all day long. What happened to Kevin sucks and the person who ratted him out is an ass, but it seems like the root of the problem was inappropriate and/or excessive internet usage. I would expect to be warned if my company had an issue with me...if he was never warned, that does suck.
Vallerina 2 #275 January 7, 2005 QuoteI would expect to be warned if my company had an issue with me... My company states that they will issue a warning for overuse of the internet. My bosses have all had the policy of, "If you get your work done, use the internet as much as you'd like." One of my bosses even asked me how to get webmail (since most are blocked.) Many companies are lenient like mine, so I would not expect to get fired for my usage. I also wouldn't expect to get fired for taking hour long lunches instead of the half hour we're actually allowed. Everyone takes hour long lunches, but I suppose we could all get fired for that. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
