Moving to Massachusetts for the season - You have an open room? (Help a brother out)

Recommended Posts

I will be moving to the Cape Cod area of Mass in April, and am looking for someone has has some extra room in their place for me. I might just be looking for a place for a couple of weeks until I find a place of my own, or if you are in that area and are in need of a roommate till October let me know. Thanks in advance for your help.
How IS the Skydiving in New England?

New DZ opening up over there - I take it you'll be 'setting up shop' there?

Don't have any advice for you but the Cape Cod area is RIDICULOUSLY expensive in the summer - its not going to be terribly easy to find something affordable [:/]

On the bright side - your not too far from Jumptown, so you'll have to make it out there and jump with us!

Well... my experience is limited (see jump numbers) but last spring was a nasty way to start the year. But the summer was beautiful and fall was awesome!

I've only been to Jumptown, Boston-Providence (now closed) and Pepperell and Jumptown gets my vote for the best, which is why I drive 2 hours to get there :S

Dying to get out to SDNE this year though - heard good things ;)

Try craigslist in the boston area for rooms - lots of people advertise on there. Try some of the colleges in the area too - lots of folks will be looking for subleters for the summer!

Was at jumptown last June for the New England CReW Record. Great place, people are nice, and was a lot of fun..

April is usually cold, especially for your Floridians...lol
May warms up and it usually stays nice till the end of October. If your going to Robbie's new place it is in a beautiful location. The Cape is a great place to spend a summer, it can be expensive, but rooming may not be that bad.

As for the other DZs in the area, you can't go wrong with any of them, Skydive Pepperell, Jumptown (MSPC) and Skydive New England are all great dropzones filled with great people. The best part about jumping up here is there is so much skydiving history at all three DZs, plus all three DZs have great LOs.

My wife and I work at Pepperell, so we spend most of our time there during the season, but we love to road trip to Jumptown and SDNE and see rest of our extended skydiving family. :)
There is a new england skydiving "banter" email list you can post too, I don't know it offhand, it's something like "skydive-banter@mit.edu", not sure though. If someone has it, post it. Send an email to that banter list.

Blue skies, enjoy your season up here!

How far (respectively) apart are the dropzones in that area? I think I am going to be like 70 miles from Boston and Providence....Would really like to stay on a DZ, but doesnt look like it is going to be possible on the cape..Not this year anyway....

Skydive New England is approx 60 minutes due north of Boston.
Skydive Pepperell is approx 50 minutes North West of Boston.
Jumptown is approx 60 minutes due west of Boston.

Edit to add: The toughest part about any commute will be the "getting off the Cape" part up Route 3 with traffic. Once past the bridge traffic and up Route 3 into Boston, your about an hour from all 3 DZs.
