How do you give your two weeks notice?

Recommended Posts

Screw all that nice and professional stuff. Here is my two weeks notice if I ever win the lotto. Go into your bosses office, drop trou and take a big dump on the desk. That should get the point across.

Nice, Goat! Beautiful. I'll do that.

Gosh don't do that, I think you would definatly burn your bridge if you did that.

I had a similar situation in January. Had a job that I *could* have loved, but the upper management made it impossible. I worked16+ hour days sometimes, on call 24/7, it was obnoxious. I quietly found a new job and then tried to be civil about giving notice. I gave 3 weeks instead of two so they could have more time to replace me. I found that being considerate got me no where. I felt like I lost 5 months of my life working there.

I ended up writing some nicely worded constructive letters to the corporate office in Seattle. NO changes may have taken place, but at least I know I wasn't silent about things.

2 WEEKS NOTICE

Lucky buggers.....I'm staring at a new job in the UK thatt helps me 'kick back' a little from what frankly is a far more stressful job than I am prepared to accept for more than a few years......But I am looking at a notice period of 12 week with my present employer

Liz,

Write a short note to provide to your boss and human resources. Set up a meeting with your boss and present it to her. You can let her know verbally that you enjoyed the people and the project, but the continued hours are not acceptable.

------

To: Boss
CC: Human Resources

I regret to inform you that I have decided to pursue other career opportunities. My last date of employment with xyz company will be xx/xx/2005.

Signed,

LB

I disagree. I wouldn't state anything other than, " I have been offered a job that I don't feel I can refuse at this point"
If you really have a psycho boss, and she is asked for reference in the future, she may state that you don't handle job responsiblities well.
Keep it as short and simple as possible. You may need her reference some day, and old bosses have a tendency to be in your life for the next 20 to 30 years..

I think yesterday was the last 15 hour day I had in me. As much as I love this job, they have projected 12 to 15 hour days through the end of September, with no time off. I do get paid hourly, but there is no overtime.

Regardless, no amount of money is worth killing yourself over. I need to reclaim my life.

Either you work for a trucking company or Boyd Coddington hotrods.:P:P
