livendive 8 #11 March 8, 2005 I've been watching it since the first episode of the first season. It's now the only regular show I watch. LOL - I finally got my cable hooked up last Tuesday, had been watching rabbit ears with really poor reception before that. So last Monday, after work, I went to a bar. I was talking to this pretty cute blonde that I see in there on occasion, and she's quite the flirt. When I complained that my new TV doesn't take to rabbit ears very well and that my 24 viewing was going to suffer, she mentioned that she has cable, a tv in her bedroom, and a big comfy bed. I laughed it off, then a couple minutes later she asked if I was going to come over...I said "for 24? Absolutely!" She said, "Well if the TV show is why, then don't bother!" and I said "OK, you probably would have talked anyhow." Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" Gravitymaster 0 #12 March 8, 2005 How was Erin's daughter able to commit suicide in the clinic? I'm starting to see something larger and uglier than what we already know. Anybody have any theories about what that may be?
tigra 0 #13 March 8, 2005 Good question- especially with the medication screw up earlier that almost killed her- but I think it was all just a plot device to get Erin out and bring Michelle in. We shall see if anything else comes of it, but remember, Erin's daughter shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Anybody have any theories about what that may be? I thought she just broke a glass something or other and slit her wrists. Last night they made it pretty clear there's still a bigger threat, but didn't hint at what it was. Since we did the nuclear bomb 2 season ago, and have already covered the nuclear meltdown angle this season, I wouldn't be surprized if it was dirty bombs. Then again, the defense contractor's role hasn't completely materialized, so it might be something really high-tech (given they have an EMP generator just sitting in their basement). My only other thought is maybe something that targets our financial institutions (electronically) with a goal of completely devastating our economy. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" But was this just a poorly thought out transition in the plot by the writers because they realized it was preventing the story from progressing, or is it part of something more sinister? Why start out the new season with a change in CTU's Director, only to write her out of the show on such a flimsy reason? Are some of the high level executives at Mclennan- Forster actually involved with Marwan? What is the next part of Marwans plan? Is it a back up in case he failed to cause a meltdown of the Nuclear reactors, or is it just the next step?

tigra 0 #18 March 8, 2005 Well, the writers DO manipulate us from time to time. Start the season with only one familiar face at CTU, (an annoying one at that) and slowly bring back our old "friends". Its certainly POSSIBLE that killing off Driscoll's daughter was part of something bigger, but I kind of doubt the writers will go there this time. But hey- that's the beauty of 24- I could be totally wrong. I know last season, I kept waiting for them to do something more with Palmer and his mysterious illness, and also with Nina. Didn't happen! There's only so many threads they figure we can follow in a 24 hour day, I guess! If the defense contractor guys aren't directly involved with Marwan, they are involved in something equally bad and the guy who is supposedly in charge only knows about a fraction of it. And the next step of Marwan's plan- not a back up, just the next step. (Although you would *think* melting down a bunch of nuclear reactors would be enough!) Also, it looks like he's already accepted that he's not going to live though it, whatever it is.

(in a nerdy sort of way) I wish they'd brought Elisha Cuthbert back this season, say, in a bikini-clad non-speaking role. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" Gravitymaster 0 #20 March 8, 2005 Going to be interesting to see what they do with the relationship between Tony and Michelle. I can imagine a situation where Tony has to make another call between saving her life and compromising his job again. I think the EMP explosion was only a precurser for what's to come. Imagine the terrorists exploding several from a small plane, a couple of miles up, over DC, NY, LA etc. It would completely shut down the US.
JohnRich 4 #21 March 8, 2005 QuoteHow was Erin's daughter able to commit suicide in the clinic? Yeah, I wanted them to follow through on that too, but they did nothing with it. I figured there must be another mole on the inside, trying to disrupt the management of the CTU. Since the girl was being watched inside a glassed-in room, she shouldn't have been able to get hold of anything to cut her wrists...

joeybob9 0 #25 March 10, 2005 I love the show... I agree w/ the not answering the phone... no phone, no talking... its just me and 24. Love it. I think that its going to be nuke bombs or something. Marwan was talking to the guy about getting him out of the country, which I would assume would mean that it would be big since the other guy asked him about getting out himself. But like everyone said...who knows.. this show makes you think that you know whats going on when really we all have no idea whats going to happen next "When once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." ~da Vinci
