Rainbo 0 #1 February 4, 2005 Over the years I have made a habit of letting new jumpers try and buy used gear from me. Always at extremely generous dollar values. And always they do right by me in the end. I also have a tendency to let them develop the payment terms. I believe the spending your dollars on skydives at that stage is better than spending it on expensive gear. Gear never made anybody fly better, safer maybe , but never better. Anyway, I am reaching a point that has me borderline upset. There is a young jumper who has a complete rig from since early last summer that has not made any attempt to contact me for some time now. I try emailing him and it bounced as undeliverable. I leave messages at his parents home where he lives(?) but get no response. I heard rumors he may be in the Fort Wayne area these days. I am not going to mention names as I am still willing to give the (thread title). What's a guy to do, I mean in my younger years there were ways I would have dealt with this issue, but I am older and gentler these days. Thoughts out there, cause I would hate to get a bad taste in my mouth and not do for younger jumpers what people did for me in my early days.Rainbo TheSpeedTriple - Speed is everything "Blessed are those who can give without remembering, and take without forgetting." SkiD_PL8 0 #3 February 4, 2005 Wow that is really in bad taste on his part. I am looking for a rig now so I will be able to jump this summer and it is really hard for me to save up that much money at one time. People like you are what help the sport grow and get new jumpers in the air. Wish I lived close I would be glad to hunt him down and be not so gentle with him for you. Greenie in training. flyangel2 2 #4 February 4, 2005 I say post his name, afterall; he is stealing something from you. Get his name out there, and let the skydiving community he can be trusted. If he steals from you, what is he going to do to others at the DZ?May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. Rainbo 0 #5 February 4, 2005 See, that is what I hope to avoid. Perhaps it is just youthful indiscretion, but then again...Rainbo TheSpeedTriple - Speed is everything "Blessed are those who can give without remembering, and take without forgetting." ChrisL 2 #6 February 4, 2005 Out the prick. You have been more than generous and patient. It seems to me that he is screwing you. He no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt. Dont stop being generous with younger jumpers because of one butthead, though.__ My mighty steed
flyangel2 2 #7 February 4, 2005 QuoteSee, that is what I hope to avoid. Perhaps it is just youthful indiscretion, but then again... Well, I think that's an easy excuse. It just shows me that no one had called this guy out before, so he just continues to be a jerk and not be responsible. You're a parent, what would you do if one of your kids pulled this kind of shit?May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. wmw999 2,452 #9 February 4, 2005 If he's on dropzone.com, hopefully he will contact you very shortly. Otherwise, yup, it's that time. SkiD_PL8 0 #11 February 4, 2005 Did you let his parents know why you were trying to contact him? If so how did they react? If you didn't I would recomend calling them and letting them know or dropping by the house and letting them know the situation and maybe they will be more helpful. Greenie in training. flyangel2 2 #13 February 4, 2005 Why is it the parents job to make sure the son pays what is owed? Nope, time for this jerk to take some responsibility in his life. Girlfalldown 0 #15 February 4, 2005 My initial thought is to out him but if you have an idea of where he's jumping maybe you can contact the dropzone and let them know the situation. Not that it's their problem but maybe someone there can be kind enough to help you out in some way. Otherwise he's not paying a debt and last I checked that's against the law. You can always have your lawyer talk to him but then you have to actually have a lawyer look into it which is more money out of your pocket. I say just out him!! -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.)

Rainbo 0 #18 February 4, 2005 Well, survey says... I am going to try the contact thing again over the weekend (they live over an hour away so I don't want to drive if I do not have to) then if nothing happens I guess I put the name out there and see what happens. sunshine 2 #20 February 4, 2005 I beleive he is indeed jumping in Indiana now. I thought it was Greensburg. I doubt his parents will be very helpful. I've met them before, they don't really have much control over him. Anyhoo, i have picture of him too if you want me to post them. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug!
