CrazyIvan 0 #1 March 3, 2005 I was checking some OLD software and found copies of the original DOOM, DOOM II and DUKE NUKEM and some maps I made. Now, I got hooked on COUNTER STRIKE and making a couple of maps (yeah I'm a geek and bored), so, anyone else makes maps for any games? (such as DOOM , QUAKE, HL or CS)__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you.
MWGemini 0 #2 March 3, 2005 I've mapped for Wolfenstein (the original), Doom, Doom2, Heretic, Hexen, Duke Nukem 3D, Half Life, Unreal Tournament, UT2k3, and UT2k4. Possibly others, but if so, not much. I haven't made anything in a long time though. I'd like to try out the source engine editor, but I don't think this system can handle it. SkiD_PL8 0 #4 March 3, 2005 I did some CS maps not long after it released back in around 1.3. I also did some tracks for motocross madness and MCM2. They were much more difficult because the terrain all has to be smooth and the way it is made is with a black-white gradient white being the highest points if I remember correctly. CrazyIvan 0 #6 March 3, 2005 QuoteI'd like to try out the source engine editor It's a nice engine, I like it a lot, you can really go crazy with details and "realism", but the "tutorials" are something else, not to clear. I think I mapped HEXEN and HERETIC, but not sure about that.__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you. sirenoremac 0 #7 March 3, 2005 The Source editing system is incredible, but poorly documented. Mostly the best way to learn it is to just screw around with things until it works. The flexibility of what you can do is amazing, and its also just flat out purty. I'm working on my first real map for it right now. All custome texturing etc. Should be pretty cool. ChasingBlueSky 0 #12 March 3, 2005 I used to for the older, easier games like Doom, Doom II, Heretic, Hexen, etc. Once they went to a true 3D environment I gave up. When UT2K4 came out I tried watching the tutorials on the 2nd DVD but I fell asleep each time._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Yeah, the documentation really blows, I just started making maps and testing this and that, it's easy to use. I'll stay away from the custom textures, at least for now, the problem is that if you miss one on your distribution file, it looks ugly.__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you.
