shah269 0 #1 April 10, 2009 OK....so I'm ready to do. I have the money, I'm about to head up to the LZ to see whats what....but just like when I started riding I think I should get some basic safety gear out of the way. So! 1) Litz.....I ride, I own a, Caberg Trip https://secure.finishlinestudios.com/users/www_geoffreycookstudios_com/files/photo/gallery/36/helmet1.jpg very light very comfy can i use this for jumping? I also have a nice ski helmet, open face, that I can use. What are your thoughts about this. 2) Suits? I should rent before I buy right? 3) Altimeter? Same thing right? Rent before I buy? And wow! $300! really! WOW! Thanks in advance! ShahLife through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. skybytch 273 #2 April 10, 2009 Don't buy anything right now. The DZ will provide everything you need for your student jumps.

shah269 0 #4 April 10, 2009 Ah ok! For Motorcycle Training Class you could bring your own lid and were required to bring a good set of boots. Ok cool! NWFlyer 2 #5 April 10, 2009 Quote were required to bring a good set of boots. About the only thing you'll be required to bring is a good set of shoes... any sort of athletic shoes that enclose your foot will work ... don't show up in flip-flops. But as others have said, the rest will be provided for you. And if you think $300 for an alti is high (though you can buy a solid, functional analog altimeter for MUCH less than that, especially if you buy used), wait till you get a load of the costs for the rest of your gear."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. shah269 0 #6 April 10, 2009 Thank you so much! But what makes a sky diving lid....well special? Is it a weight thing?Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. The only thing that falls from the sky is birdshit and fools! dragon2 2 #7 April 10, 2009 Weight, wind resistance, place to put audibles, sometimes a place to put cameras, probably more. Definately NOT the testing, certification, crash resistance a motorcycle helmet has got. Some helmets used in other sports are more or less suitable, but a good skiing helmet costs the same as a skydiving helmet, although various kinds of pro-tec like helmets can be used for a lot of sports and are cheap(ish). Best stick to a helmet in your local skydiving shop or from one of the online skydiving dealers, although you are better off trying the specific model and size before buying anything. Various skydiving helmets have a more or less discipline specific function, for relative work you'd prefer a fullface, for freeflying and wingsuiting most people use open-face helmets, for canopy relative work you need an open faced helmet. You probably wouldn't be allowed to jump a fullface anyway for quite a while, certainly not on student jumps. ciel bleu, Saskia
jf951 1 #8 April 13, 2009 also skydiving helmets. unlike your motohelmet have a very low/small chin piece so that you have an unobstructed view of your cut away and reserve handles. and if the FF helmet has a visor then they usualy have a neck seal so u dont get bombarded with winds comming up from below youJump more, Bitch less.
