GiaKrembs 0 #1 March 1, 2005 Check out my Grams, she did a tandem for her 80th Birthday in Eloy last Saturday... she is the best!!! http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/index.php?sty=37124 not sure if the link is working, here is the article: Mesan marks 80th with sky-dive By Dennis Welch, Tribune February 27, 2005 A Mesa great-grandmother seeking a jolt of excitement on her 80th birthday made her first sky-dive Saturday morning. "My whole life I wanted to jump," said Arlene Miller. "And last year I promised one of my granddaughters that for my next birthday I’d go sky-diving." Miller made her first jump over Eloy strapped to an instructor from Skydive Arizona. Most sky divers at the jump zone are required to make a tandem jump before they are allowed to solo. "She’s always been like this and I think that she’s getting worse as she gets older," said Sandy Adrian, 60. "I think it’s wonderful she’s got this much spunk." Miller said she might make another jump for her 90th birthday. Besides being the fulfillment of a lifelong desire, for Miller it was also a family affair. Seven family members — including Arlene Miller’s 73-year-old husband, Roy — also sky-dived as their supporters watched from the ground. Arlene Miller said she has two sons, two daughters, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Last week, 96-year-old Milburn Hart suffered a dislocated shoulder while attempting to get into the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest person to make a solo skydive. He made a rough landing Feb. 19 near Seattle. The record has not been decided. GiaKrembs 0 #6 March 1, 2005 I was shocked when she mentioned she wanted to do it... even more shocked when 6 other family members (husband, 2 sons, 2 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 1 nephew) and 4 friends jumped on the bandwagon with her... My Grandma's oldest son used to be a Green Beret, and jumped rounds WAY back in the day (some really cool stories).... he surprised us all on Saturday with a last minute decision to jump (his family told him he wasn't allowed either... his comment "they won't know till I get home." It was such an awesome day!!!! Raddest ho this side of Jersey #1 - rest in peace brother Beth lost her cherry and I missed it .... you want access to it, but you don't want to break it.
