Good vibes for Eric!!

Recommended Posts

Just a quick update. Eric's still at Northridge Hospital, hoping to be home by Thanksgiving :) They only operated on the left leg in the last surgery. Replacing the Fixater and inserting a rod on either side of the bone. We had previously thought they were going to work on both the left leg and the right foot, but they could not due to the extreme amount of pain. >:( >:( >:(

Eric you have been holding so very strong through all of this. Truely an inspiration!!!

Keep on keeping on - you tough cookie;)

More vibes coming from here, Eric. Hang in there -- and consider that you're here to feel the pain, and that the doctors who know stuff think it's worth doing surgery to make it better.

Small comfort, I know.

So here are some more vibes!

Update:

:(:S Eric has made it through the 'last' surgery. They took him down at 9am and brought him back to his room at 2PM today. The doctor had to spend much more time on that right foot than initially expected. He successfully straightened it out, cleaned up some of the splintered bone and inserted 'rods'.

This one has left him in much more pain then the last one, exactly a week ago [:/]>:(:(. The positive outcome will be that he could start trying to walk on that foot in 4-6 weeks - barring any infection.

Lets all pull together and give him some really really nice thoughts to come back online to, when he is feeling better. :) :)

Eric, you're almost there... there may still be more hills to overcome... but you'll be home very soon... and that's sure to help speed things up!

Before you know it, we'll be able to get you in a car and out to the DZ to visit the rest of your family again! :)

Keep holding strong Eric. :)-T

HI everyone. Eric is recovering well from the last surgery. Still in a lot of pain, but it's getting better with each day. Some really good news, he could be going home as early as this weekend!!
We keep hearing excellent things about the surgeon who has been operating on Eric at Northridge Hospital. So rest assure he is and has been in great hands. :)

Keep the vibes coming for a Great Welcome home just in time for the Holiday's!!!

Sending (((((((((((((((((VIBES))))))))))))))))))))))))))

to Eric

We don't know each other but I've seen you around Perris before. I just came across this thread and all I can say is that you are a fighter. Strong.

Keep going, never give up, you're almost there, look how far you've come. Feel the love of so many people who are behind you and your recovery.

Laurie and so many others have done such a great job of posting ...

Stay strong and feel the LOVE.

Well I guess it's about time I chimed in. As Trish said, I had my (hopefully) final surgery on Thursday. The operation was pretty serious but went very well. All I know is that my right foot is no longer about 2 inches off to the left of my right leg. For anyone that saw it since the accident they would tell you that it was pretty nasty to say the least. I'm still in a tremendous amount of pain but it's getting a little better each day.

I will be going home on Tuesday of next week, just over 4 months from the accident. Shortly after I awoke from the coma in late August I set a goal of being home in time for Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday) and I'm going to make it by 2 days. I had hoped to be walking by that time but the month I spent at Loma Linda in rehab was mostly a waste of time since I ended up needing 2 more major surgeries to my legs. All of the ranging they did of my legs was wasted since I can barely even move them now after the surgeries. Oh well, the doctor has said that I will be able to start putting weight on them in the next 4-6 weeks so perhaps by Christmas I'll be starting the process of learning to walk again.

Again, thanks for everyone's support and good wishes, they're appreciated. Thanks to Trish too who has been at the hospital almost every day bringing me food and drinks and helping me out with whatever I need.

Well, I am so very excited that you have recovered so well. You are an inspiration. I am still thinking about you often. Take care of yourself and whenever the good Army decides they are done with me, you can count on me bringing over some good wine. Take Care.

Welcome home, Eric! I'm sure it feels SO good...

So, what was your very first meal back at the ranch?

(I always ask this of my patients. It's interesting to see their eyes light up as they think about this 'reward' waiting for them at the end of their hospital journey) :)

Well, after a slightly rough ambulance ride...we got Eric home safe and sound. He's all warm and snug in the comfort of his own home with unlimited selection of TV Channels AND VOLUME CONTROL!!! Man was it hard to hear the tv at the hospital and we were getting sick of all the edited bleeps!

I am sure as soon as we get his computer back online he'll be on here filling you in on all the haps... so I'll leave that to him. :)
Thanks for all your warm thoughts and support.
-Trish

Happy Days Eric !!! :)
Your future's so bright!!!!
