QuickDraw 0 #76 July 21, 2003 As for giving blood, maybe this is the time to go through your phone contacts list and see if you can drag a friend/relative along for milking. -- Hope you don't die. -- I'm fucking winning
freeflynut 5 #77 July 21, 2003 I don’t know what to say. I’ve known Eric for about 4 years. He was my boss for a year and a half. He started skydiving about the same time I did, but went way beyond my level very quickly. In the two years of skydiving, he progressed through many areas of training, developing his skills and certifications as fast as he could. It really surprised me when a friend called and mentioned that Eric was in and accident. He is a great skydiver, and very safety conscious. Eric is also one of those guys that lived for skydiving. I mean – that’s what his life was about for the last two years. Before skydiving, Eric didn’t seem to be all that satisfied with life. He and his marriage had ended, and he would often spend all his time at work. I would often find him at the office until after midnight. He would spend many weekends at the office as well. His favorite thing to do at that time was to go to the bar and have a Jagermeister and a Guinness – then go back to work. I couldn’t believe it when I saw Eric at the dropzone. I thought – well here’s a guy who never leaves the office, and just lives for work. The amazing thing about Eric and skydiving: it was like he had found his calling. Eric found friendship, camaraderie, family and a sense of purpose in skydiving. He came to the dropzone every Saturday, and made it to many different boogies. When Eric first started skydiving, I would often see him involved with Mark Brown’s group doing different RW jumps and having a great time. It seemed that Eric just wanted to do more and more, and I respected his focus on what he loved to do. I wish I had that much time to do this sport. One thing that was most noticeable was Eric’s change of attitude. Eric could be a surly person sometimes – and let his attitude affect the way was he was around others (I should know – he was my boss for a while). After Eric began to skydive, it was like his whole attitude about life changed. He was more open, thoughtful, and he displayed a sense of confidence that was remarkable. Life for Eric while skydiving just seemed better. Eric also still drinks Jagger – with his skydiving friends – and he’ll always order a round for everyone – just to see the funny look on their faces when they drink it. Eric is a friend of mine, and I hope he pulls through. I think that Eric has many friendships at the dropzone in Perris and at Elsinore. We are all hoping for a swift recovery. Here is a guy who found something he loved and jumped right in. He has a strong spirit, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes through this experience. When you get a chance, and you find yourself in the bar after skydiving – have a shot of Jager and toast Eric – and hope for a strong recovery. I’m sure he’ll like the look on your face, knowing that he got one more person to drink that stuff!
Chivo 0 #78 July 21, 2003 Just sending vibes... I never talked to him, but as many other dz.commers, I saw him frequently in Perris. Always upbeat and smiling. Best wishes. ~Chivo

mouth 0 #80 July 22, 2003 "It's a miracle" according to the Doctors. Eric is down to 60% oxygen, he has been placed in traction, and he is actually feeling some pain. Now you say WHOA it can't be good if he is feeling pain, (I did) but it means he has feeling in his extremities so the fact that he does feel it even though he is heavily sedated is a good thing. He is still CRITICAL but all those wonderful vibes and prayers are paying off. For those of you who have sent your love I know Eric and his family are eternally grateful. Now we need a little more help here. Eric's right leg has no pulse at this time. This could be due to all the swelling, but the fact is the blood is not circulating to this area in order to start the healing process. There is also still some concern about one kidney being damaged. Keep Eric in your thoughts and prayers and keep sending them his way. The Doctors really do believe he is fighting so hard just because of all this love and support being sent his way. I understand his family is keeping around the clock vigils so also keep thim in your thoughts. Thank you to all who have already donated blood in Eric's honor and to all you who are so concerned about Eric. You guys ROCK. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.

tigra 0 #87 July 22, 2003 Hey guys, For people in the area who want to help out, maybe stop by the hospital and see if there's anything you can do for Eric's family. Bring them sandwiches, offer to sit with Eric while they take a short break (if they're allowing visitors outside immediate family), maybe hook the out of town folks up with a place to crash or shower?? Just a thought! More good vibes are coming from Chicago. I don't know you Eric, but hang in there! You are loved by a lot of people! maura

skybytch 273 #89 July 22, 2003 QuoteFor people in the area who want to help out, maybe stop by the hospital and see if there's anything you can do for Eric's family. For right now the family can't deal with a bunch of people they don't know hanging around. Once Eric's doing better and can have visitors it'll be different, but for now it's been requested that we just continue sending our prayers and love. I have a feeling once the okay has been given for non-family visitors the hallway will be packed.
tigra 0 #90 July 22, 2003 Definitely respect the family's wishes, and don't crowd the hospital. Sorry, maybe I mis-spoke a bit there. Too many "well wishers" can be overwhelming. But if there's a way to see if they need anything and get it to them........ With any luck, he'll keep getting better, but he'll still have a long recovery ahead of him, and he and his family will appreciate the support of the community. maura

eharris 0 #92 July 22, 2003 I guess miracles are ever present in a community filled with so much love and prayers. I've been sending vibes since Saturday and will send them even harder now as Eric begins this fight! Speaking from someone who knew him and saw him every weekend, he's very loved in Perris and he's got a whole posse of prayer mongers pulled for him! wmw999 2,439 #94 July 22, 2003 QuoteEric is down to 60% oxygen, he has been placed in traction, and he is actually feeling some pain. Holy cow. Yes, that's good news indeed. And there are a whole lot of people who would love to have him tell them, at excruciating length, how it hurt like a mother. Eric, this is your chance to bore everyone! Vibes and prayers still coming. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. I'm sure that you and Eric will be able to have LONG talks about all the healing and work he'll be going through in the time to come. He'll listen and learn and be back before we know it! It's fantastic to hear about the baby steps and Eric's fighting spirit.
