lippy 918 #2 April 27, 2009 If you think you'll want to get a full face as soon as you're qualified, you might want to consider a Protec in the meantime. They're cheap, comfortable and actually protect your noggin better than a lot of skydive-specific helmets. If you buy a Protec, make sure you don't get one of the skateboard helmets that goes really wide at the bottom; it could present a snag hazzard. Whatever you choose, it'd be a good idea to consult an instructor at your DZ before you put down any money on something that might turn out not to be suitable.I got nuthin

riggerrob 643 #4 April 27, 2009 Brits have silly restrictions on full-face helmets ... and everything else. I have jumped with a PFF student who was wearing a full-face helmet (Factory Diver?). He demonstrated - on the ground that he could see and grab all his handles, so we let him jump it on Level Two. And he passed Level Two.

mx19 0 #6 April 28, 2009 Im not sure on the actual reasons but the general feelings have to do with ability to see emergency handles and vision and hearing impairment under canopy.
