Glandu 0 #1 April 29, 2009 Could anyone tell me what type of lines they are ? Can they be pretty new like 10 jumps (????) or much much more ? (I was told that the canopy had only 10 jumps?????)? or? Also, did PD's install Vectran on their Katanas or go straight from microlines to HMA? Thank you
likestojump 3 #2 April 29, 2009 either Vectran or HMA, but I am leaning towards the Vectran (they are a bit thick). I would wonder how they have so much friction burn at only 10 jumps.... talking to PD they did Microline, and then went straight for HMA on Katanas. At least that's what I was told when I asked them a few months ago :)
ast4711 0 #3 April 29, 2009 These are vectran lines. My guess is somewhat between 50-100 jumps. more likely 100 than 50... Have them on my crossfire and tandem since years and know their look... alex -- www.tandemmaster.net www.skydivegear.de
Glandu 0 #4 April 29, 2009 You both seem to confirm that these are Vectran lines and as we can tell on the pics, there is no way that the lines are brand new!!!! "the original owner" says the canopy has only 10 jumps. What a bunch of crap!!!! Something smells fishy!!!! I asked him to send me a pic of the warning label, which he did, but guess what. The serial number had been deleted (photoshop or what else?) Very srange, isn't it?

Experiences like this are a good reason not to send payment until the gear has been inspected, or to buy from a dealer who has a proven reputation for "satisfaction guaranteed." I've wasted a lot of time inspecting gear for myself and others only to have to return it, because it didn't meet the seller's description. I sure hope you come out alright on this transaction. Edited to add: At least in my experience, most of the sellers didn't know their own equipment well enough to be aware of damage and wear; so far they have been agreeable enough when I pointed it out. Your case sound more like outright deception.

RiggerLee 61 #9 April 30, 2009 Was he jumping slinks? Are there bumpers on the lines? It looks like the discoloration comes all the way down to the end of the loop. If he was jumping hard links with out bumpers look for wear where the line got pinched and cut between the grommet and the link. Am I blind or are there only four lines on each link at the top of the page? Katana? swilson 0 #10 April 30, 2009 You're not blind. The two links on the left hand side each have 4 lines, and the two on the right hand side each have 5. The links and line groups don't correspond with the holes and writing in the link card.
RiggerLee 61 #11 May 1, 2009 Ok, I'm still confused here. Is this a seven cell with noncascaded center a/b lines? I thought we were talking katana here? Some body help me out I'm still confused and that bugs me. What kind of canopy do you have there?
