Liz Foot came off? PLEASE! His SHOE was handed to the paramedics. He is sore and out of the hospital. He is currently in a hotel in Phoenix waiting for family to come drive him home. And yes Remster, he was air lifted to phoenix I read this - made a double take - and the only thing that went through my mind was that I can't ever remember having such a visual of a California Raisin . . . singing "I heard it through the grape vine" I'm glad he's ok. I'm glad we can learn from our mistakes.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
Brains 2 #27 January 3, 2005 QuoteThat was one of the rumours going around hence the ????. (a pretty unbelievable one at that!) Glad he is out of hospital. I know, we heard them all (I think) Everything from he threw a 270 approach to canopy collisions etc. Whatever, he flies an Omega 190, he doesn't hook it. And the canopy never deformed, there was no canopy collision. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
CanuckInUSA 0 #28 January 3, 2005 So what did happen? Did he just stay too long on his fronts, or something else? I was packing when it happened, but I didn't witness the accident due to the fact that I had my back turned to the landing area when he crashed. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

After a little rest, I'm sure he'll be online adding his own $0.02. Jen (JAC) and I picked him up from the hospital Saturday night and got him checked into a hotel. Some friends drove out to drive him and his car back. He's in some pain, and I know he's not enjoying the long ride home, but he's going to be fine, and he intends to get back in the air when he's healed. According to him, he was on final when another canopy overtook him. He got startled, looked over, and by the time he looked back, it was too late to flare. He hit no flare (I was looking the other way, but I HEARD it from about fifty yards away) and broke his tib/fib, cracked a rib, and compressed a vertebra. If I've missed any of the details, I know he'll correct me. I'm sure he'll be amused by some of the rumors. I hadn't heard the "foot came off" one; that is hilarious. Decibel 0 #35 January 10, 2005 Sounds like a plan, though I probably won't be out to Eloy again until next year's boogie.

Decibel 0 #37 January 10, 2005 Douva's summary is pretty much correct. My version of events is posted at http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1419921 Anyone happen to have video of my crash and burn? I'd love to see it.
Brains 2 #38 January 10, 2005 QuoteAnyone happen to have video of my crash and burn? I'd love to see it. Unfortunately yes, it is playing over and over in my head. I am glad you are ok brother, i was standing right next to Jason when it happened and saw your yellow helmet and knew exactly who it was. That is when Jen and several others ran out to you. Come out to the dz when you are able and hang out and have a beer. Also, if you need anything, i am in austin quite a bit these days and i can bring you something if needed, call alicia for my # if you need it. Decibel 0 #39 February 20, 2005 Well, unless you have some kind of cyborg technology with I don't see how I'll be able to view the video in your head. :P My back is finally starting to get to the point where I can think about heading to the DZ. Hopefully within the next month or so.
Breezejunky 0 #40 February 20, 2005 Too funny! I think I know who started the foot came off one! I saw someone hand something to the paramedic and then this person walked over to me and told me what he "just saw". Well he was standing right there but I was rather skeptical as I'm pretty damn sure things would be moving a hell of a lot faster if that were the case. I had no burning need to know the story right away or to repeat something I had my doubts about so I had no part in spreading that one! (Whew!)
