wmw999 2,447 #4 February 14, 2005 Man -- to me brown rice is one of the best things out there. So I guess all you have to do is change your taste buds. Yeah, that's the ticket. One thing that can make any rice more tasty is to saute some onions in the pot first, then saute the rice for a minute or two, until some of it is lightly browned. Or yes, you can use boullion to make it with. Or you can use it to hold other foods, like chinese, or anything with a sauce. If you make sauces with cornstarch instead of flour, they're lower in fat and calories (mix cornstarch with cold water and add to whatever liquid you're cooking -- cornstarch clumps something fierce with hot water). Dougiefresh 0 #5 February 14, 2005 First thing, throw the seasoning packs away. They're just salt and make the rice taste like crap. I like the garlic/sage/onion idea. That sounds good!Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

GravityGirl 0 #7 February 14, 2005 Use in any veggie recipe. You don't have to eat it straight. I like to saute eggplant, garlic, onion and other veggies in a little olive oil. Then add some brown rice and chopped tomatoes at the end. It's like a stew texture. It's filling and good warm comfort food. I add tofu too, but I'm from California. We do that! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
QuickDraw 0 #8 February 14, 2005 Try stir-frying the packet it came in, it's probably more nutritious too. -- Hope you don't die. -- I'm fucking winning
masterrig 1 #9 February 14, 2005 Try mixing some browned pork sausage or browned ground beef, after draining the grease, add some cayenne pepper, a touch of basil and some garlic, salt to taste. Damn! I'm makin' myself hungry. Chuck
