freeflyTM 0 #1 February 13, 2005 How much do you think i would owe Olav for this username? Does he really own it? i notice that when finding a username that no one has 'Freefly' as it is not allowed. Is this because he owns the word? I wonder how much i would have to pay him every time someone on dropzone saw this username?

Just like you can't open a hamburger joint called "McRonalds" and expect to get away with it. So if Olav sues you, I'll counter-sue on your behalf.. . www.freak-brother.com
adamjenner 0 #3 February 13, 2005 what about the other 280 some odd users on this site that have the word freefly, freeflying, freeflyer etc in their name? or what about people that get "freefly" tattooed on them one way or another. should they have to pay him? i know i'm not paying him for MY tattoo
Faber 0 #4 February 13, 2005 I dont think Olav looks at it that way it wouldnt be freefly right... i think Olaw looks at Freefly and the people that flys it,as a way to live,no one should deside if your headdown on your back or what ever.. just as no one owes the name, the sport of freefly owes the name and it belongs to all who like to have fun freeflying up in da sky at least thats the way i want to think about it.. freeflyTM 0 #5 February 13, 2005 the reason i ask because i read a report from a BPA meeting that he gave a seminar at. When asked a question, he replied that 'FREEFLY is a word he owns and everytime someone uses it, it puts him out of pocket of $5. WTF
Vertifly 0 #6 February 13, 2005 Dude, it's my 'assumption' that Olav doesn't even care. He probably trademarked the name just in case the sport name began generating a significant amount of revenue - like on TV or with large competitions. We're going to need about 40 years before that happens. Though, it was probably a good idea if he ever has grandkids and wants to leave them a mini-dynasty. Heh, gives new meaning to coining the phrase. Freefly, Freefly, Freefly, Freefly, Freefly, Freefly, Freefly, Freefly, Freefly, Freefly, Freefly, Freefly, Freefly...... How much do I owe for that? freeflyTM 0 #7 February 13, 2005 I think you owe a few slots. You see when you register a name on dropzone.com, no user is allowed the name 'Freefly'. How much do you think i can sell my username to Olav for?
Vertifly 0 #8 February 13, 2005 I don't know, but i'd like to watch you try squeezing a coach jump out of him. Best of luck with that.
plowdirt 0 #9 February 13, 2005 Have you ever met Olav? I would doubt thats his nature. But just for good measure try do a coach jump with him. Or find a way to work on that dolphin #. Plan a trip to over there and coach it up. By the way much respect to Olav Zipser
bobsled92 0 #10 February 14, 2005 I respect OLAV as well. He is working hard at getting things moving in the skydive World. The 1st group of people(like over a decade ago) to go SIT/stand/heads down were in fact FREAK BROTHERS_______________________________ If I could be a Super Hero, I chose to be: "GRANT-A-CLAUS". and work 365 days a Year. http://www.hangout.no/speednews/
bob.dino 1 #11 February 14, 2005 I doubt that Olav owns the trademark any more.
freeflyTM 0 #12 February 14, 2005 i respect the bloke too, just having a laugh. though do wonder about his nature after reading a thread here in the forums. This was a quote in the threads by a british jumper... Re: [D22369] Olav? [In reply to] Quote | Reply last I heard of him was at the BPA AGM during a seminar on Freeflying. When the speeker asked olav about his ideas on what freeflying ment he was told Quote "Freefly" TM is a trade mark and it belongs to me. Everytime you use the word "Freefly" TM without my permission, you do me out of $5.
