Why do women's and men's shirts button on opposite sides?

The above answers are correct, but it's also attributed to fact that the hilt of your sword won't get caught up on your shirt buttons during the draw if you button your shirt like a man.

This was assuming right handed?:P So if you're left handed you would want to buy womens?:S

Why do dry cleaners charge $5 per shirt for women and $1 a shirt (or 99 cents) for men?

The male-dominated cleaning industry is just part of the Great Male Conspiracy to keep you down.

It is well known that women spend any extra money on household wall knicknacks and self-help books from Oprah. These only make men miserable.

Charging extra for cleaning is just a way to keep disposable income out of your hands. Men are protecting you from yourselves, you should be appreciative. :)

What was that book . . . "_________ and the Purple Crayon"? Harold? Was that his name?

It is a religious book? I remember in church we used to say "Our Father, who art in heaven, Harold be thy name..."

Speaking of men and women's shirts... here is another question...

Why do dry cleaners charge $5 per shirt for women and $1 a shirt (or 99 cents) for men? They are pretty much the same except that the women's shirt is usually smaller. Makes me mad!!! >:(

They tried to say it was because the women's shirts are smaller and they have to handle them differently, BUT-I read about a study a couple of college kids did-
The male took a white shirt to the cleaners to be laundered. When he picked it up they charged him $1.99. He went outside, crumpled it up, made it look worn, gave it to the female who took it to the same cleaners for laundering. When she picked up the shirt, they charged her $3.99. After this story hit the papers, all the laundries started charging the same price for men's and women's clothes.

Swords are supposed to be carried on the left and drawn with the right hand, no matter which "handed" you are.

Dose that mean that men are all supposed to "dress left" and pull out with the right no matter which "handed" we are?:P:ph34r:

Unless you are military - they tend to "Dress Right Dress" alot more than left.:D

but pulling out?

Only after the conflict is over should the military pull out.

I've never really gotten a perfect definition for some commonly used phrases, like 'tongue in cheek', and 'ad nauseum'. It's like I know what they mean pretty much, but I don't ever think I'd use them correctly.

I didn't know what 'knock on wood' meant until I was 16. :S

Why is it that France has all these strange words?
Someone told me last week that they have a different word for almost all the old words that we use here.

Due to the lack of anything exciting, they haven't invented any new words since 1889 when they came up with "Eiffel". No one else seems to be using it, so it is being deleted.

English has all the words that are necessary, I think they are just being disagreeable.

France actually creates a few new french words every year for words created in english other than adapting english -> french. ie the weekend -> le weekend
