penniless 0 #1 February 8, 2005 Anyone read it? Once you get over the basic impossibility that any government agency could ever carry off a deception of this magnitude without it leaking all over the media, IMO it's a good story.
flyhi 24 #2 February 8, 2005 Like his book "Angels and Demons" (all skydivers know the helicopter part was crap) a lot of the technical facts were BS. But he does write in a compelling manner and I enjoy reading his works. But there's a reason they call it fiction.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics. ChasingBlueSky 0 #4 February 8, 2005 QuoteI enjoyed Angels a lot more then Deception. I enjoyed Angels more than Code. I read the story intro on his other books....and they all seem the same. They are good quick reads, but you can find better authors out there. I was going to read his other books, but decided that there are stronger fictional stories to read (ie Devil in the White City, Life of Pi). What worries me is that everyone will believe his fictional stories as truth._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... pleifer 0 #5 February 8, 2005 Yep, I read it. I really like his style of writing, but his endings are ones that says "I've wrote enough now I'm just going to stop" angles, davinci, and deception were all kind of like that _________________________________________ The Angel of Duh has spoke
AggieDave 6 #6 February 8, 2005 I liked deception point better then code, but Da Vinci more then those, Angels and Demons has been the best so far. He's working on a new book about the Masons, that should be interesting.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." PhreeZone 20 #8 February 8, 2005 Switch Code and Deception Point and I'd agree with you. Personally I thought that Deception point was a very weak book. It had really promising points but the loose ends he tried to wrap up in the last 50 pages all at the same time instead of a few here and a few there in the novel. A few common themes in all his books: The Guy will find a woman that he falls in love with. The "Man" is always bad. This so far has been the Church and the Government. Time and travel seem to have no bearing on his charactors. They only need an hour nap too. All his charactors suddenly remember little tidbits of info out of the blue that move the story along. They never need outside assistance either.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
