Brian425 0 #1 February 7, 2005 Well, I'm getting ready for ny trip to mesquite. Any rule for jumping from a helicopter? I'm an A licencesed jumper. Just want to know, And yes I will bring beer. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

AggieDave 6 #3 February 7, 2005 I'd recommend calling up the DZ to see if they have any requirements. There's nothing in the BSRs, but an individual DZ might have requirements.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Brian425 0 #6 February 7, 2005 I would think the minimum is a rig, a smile and and beer. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
wildcard451 0 #7 February 7, 2005 I have heard of some places requiring a B license or instructor permission, so calling ahead may be in your best interests.

dropzonefool 0 #12 February 7, 2005 You SHOULD receive a briefing before jumping! This should include what NOT to do. ( reaching up or jumping up). If in doubt, fall off the strut and enjoy the lack of relitave wind!
 freefallguy 0 #13 February 8, 2005 Definitely don't jump up. Do wear a rig. Do have an A license. Do have fun. Do bring your case of beer. We'll see you here. For anyone that didn't get that, you need an A license to jump the helicopter. It will be going to 8500 and is just another aircraft.(A pretty fun aircraft) We will be giving briefings to all who haven't jumped one before. So if you don't know then ask.
 crotalus01 0 #14 February 8, 2005 exactly why do you need an A license to jump a helicopter? just curious as i do not have my A yet but i do have 32 freefall jumps (weather has been shit here lately or i would have double that). ps - i dont have the A because i havent done my H&P, i have everything else...the weather went to shit right before my H&P... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...
 funks 1 #15 February 8, 2005 last place i jumped a helicopter required you to be B "qualified" in order to jump.
 freefallguy 0 #16 February 8, 2005 I guess by the BSR's you don't. But, officially, until you have an A license you are a student and I don't want to do student jumps out of a specialty aircraft when it's not necessary. Also, practically, the first 20 to 40 jumps(depending on the person) there is enough going on in your head just making a skydive like any other. I'd rather not add extra concerns to some one at that level.
 kelel01 1 #17 February 8, 2005 I agree with calling to find out. One place I went to had no license requirements, but they had a 50-jump requirement. I think it's up to the host.
