Honda S2000

Recommended Posts

Does any one on here own one?
What do you think?
Any thing I should be worried about or pay attention too?

I test drove the S2000 a few months back and I loved it. It was such a sweet car. I really want a sports car I have not had any thing fun to drive in a few years.(I hope my Alero doesn’t read this…she has a temper)

The S2000 is around 22-24K for a low mileage 2002-2003. Any other ideas for cars that are that much fun in that price rang?

Thank you in advance.

I test drove one the last time I was looking for a car. I am loyal to Hondas and Acuras. I think they make a quality product. The car was sweet. It performed well and looks very sporty in a classic way...I thought. The reason I didn't buy it was because I was looking for an everyday car. I consider the S2000 to be more of a 2nd fun car.

Good luck with it if you decide to buy it. I think it's a great car.

Chris

Nope. You can step down to a Miata or up to a Porsche/Mercedes/BMW, but I can't think of another car that will be as fun in that price range. The S2000 is a well-built, fun, affordable 2-seat convertible that doesn't really have any competition.

The WRX Sti is fast, but more money and I am concerned about tranny problems.
Plus I don't think I would really have fun with an all wheel drive car.

I think the only all wheel drive car I would love to have would be a Lamborghini Diablo any one want to give me 300K:P

The only Eclipse that would be near as fast as the S2000 was the 99-98-97 Eclipse turbo. I searched for 3 months after my Nissan burned to the ground (RIP) to find one that was a manual no luck. It is an awesome car very hard to find.

I don't know where your coming up with that it has a better motor? but it is still a nice car.

Have to disagree with zep here, i think the Honda VTEC is one of the best engines in the world. It will go all day at low revs and be relaxing to drive but bang it into the higher rev range and put a smile on your face.;)
One of my teammates has an S2000 - its a fantastic car.

Oh and i did here that out of all the VTECs built (ie loads) there have been virtually NO warranty claims. Very reliable motor.

LOL. I was talking to my friend last night he said the same thing. But if I get it and have the money it will get a new cat back exhaust system not for the noise but it does improve HP a lot, and helps reduce back pursuer. Not to mention a turbo system(but thats alot of $$$)

The spoiler hmmmm not sure about that:P;)

When I was looking for a sports car a while ago I checked out the s2000.. also looked at the audi tt and the merc slk230/330... I found that the merc was the msot comfortable..(I am 6 feet tall so that was a pretty big issue when it came to the 2 seater sports car...) plus it was hard top/convertable...and was pretty quick as well...

thats my 2 cents... but I ended up going a completely different path and buying a wrangler jeep :)

A few years back I had a honda. I sold it with about 140k miles on it, and never had to have any engine work done. They make some reliable cars.

Be careful with the exhausts though. If the header is more restrictive than the exhause system, the Cat-Back won't do much except make it louder, and you might lose a bit of low-end torque. The few HP you might gain on the top end might not be worth it, especially on a stock motor.

If you throw on the turbo, throw a new full exhaust system on it and be sure not to drive by my house at 3 am ;)

What’s up Bro.

I just checked out the merc. It has about 185hp 55 less then the S2000, but I have never driven that model. How do you compare it to the S2000?. I know it’s not just a number thing it has a lot to do with feel.

Thats debateble.

Ever considered an M Coupe? Very original, 49/51 weight balance, and an M3 engine :)

You will either love it or hate it, there is usually no in between.

Its really hard to find info about the M Coupe, usually most sites have info pertaining to the M3, or M roadster, but the coupe is still kinda rare.

They were available in the mid-late '90s with as a Z3 coupe, but later became the M coupe, and I believe they have both the E36 or E46 M engine depending on what year you buy.

I apologize, should also be more clear in saying that I am talking about used M Coupes in that price range.

Here is a used one about 100 miles from you, according to your profile.

I recommend checking them out in person. With the moon roof option the majority of the roof is glass. Its not a sliding moon roof but I believe it pops up to get some ventilation. Rear wheel drive, plenty of torque, and the thing sticks to the road like glue.

I've always like hatchbacks, I've owned a 93 Civic Si, 92 Civic SiR-II, and a 88 CRX. The M coupe will be my next car. There is a guy at work who has one, so I drool on it everyday in the parking garage :$
