Snow + Car = Fun

Recommended Posts

It’s the 2nd time it has snowed this week. I know people don’t like the snow, but I couldn’t wait to get in my car.
Hit the remote start get her ready and warm. Put on some music lower the windows just a bit turn up the heat. Head to a country road. There are piles of snow from the last blizzard that have been moved to the side of the road by the plows. Behind them trees lots and lots of trees.

You’re coming up to a turn do you go slow or go side ways........................ Sideways it is. You drop it down a gear speed up and here we go. There is snow getting thrown in every direction. You’re getting close to the big piles and the trees. The music is blasting. For a second you think maybe you took it a few miles to fast but you remain confident that you can pull it out. A little bit of gas and she grips the tail whips straight, and I have a smile on my face. Just a little gas and snow made a beginning of this day a happy one. Life is what you make of it.
Always have fun.

No i just got in to work and will be here till 8.

Whats the point of an empty parking lot?
If there is no danger there is no fun.

You have to pick the right ones. There's an empty one in Cumberland that used to be an AMES before they went out of business - so you have the stores and the light poles - plus, big piles of snow...

As long as I don' have to be out in it, its all good - plus, great way to practice getting your car out of a good skid. My dad got some kind of sick pleasure out of making me do fast turns in an empty icy parking lot - scared the crap out of me - but I learned how to get my car out of a skid. ;)

can you get side ways in a slide(drift) and then recover like you can in a non all wheel drive car?

There are you happy now:P:D

Ever watch car rallies on TV? You can definitely drift an AWD car but not the way you would a front or better yet rear-wheeldrive car like a Nissan 240, and it WONT work on pavement!!! Try gravel or snow with the right tires.

As far as recovery goes, in my limited experience, I find that gunning it is about the best way to get a AWD to get back in the game out of a skid. I guess it puts power to the 4 wheels and you get traction?

That is one of the few things that I miss about the snow. I have a Jeep Wrangler and I used to go out and drive all over the place when it was snowing. Plus I never really had to worry about getting stuck.

The snow and my A4 have loads of fun together,
I just sit back, watch, and enjoy the ride....
Gotta luv the quattro....

btw - 360's are the new hotness, sideways is last year.

360s are not very hard just have to remeber to turn twice and let go of the brake well one of the brakes anyway.

Out runing cops thats fun so i have read in books.;)

I can drift my 4wd dakota in snow... its a lot of fun. More fun on the road too.. Parking lots are too wide open, doesn't get the adrenaline going.

If I kill the 4wd I can wag the tail all the way down the road. Its nice to know you can keep yourself right on the line of in and out of control! :D:o;)

Snow + front wheel drive + handy emergency brake = loads 'o fun on snowy back roads

I learned that this past weekend only it was in a walmart parking lot...the emergency brake was emphasized greatly;)

I was petrified at the time, but I will admit it was kinda fun...but shhh don't tell Eric that!:D
