bmoore21184 0 #1 January 26, 2005 I got a copy of my x rays today from my broken femur. They didnt have the pre-surgery x rays available since the surgery was done at another hospital. But the first pic is 4 days after it happened (2Nov2005) and the second one was taken yesterday. Big bones take a little while to heal themself. Its not like when i broke my thumb. Enjoy. Avion 0 #2 January 26, 2005 Oh dude, that looks so painful You can see where it compounded and split. Is that the best they could do lining up the pieces? It looks like they're still a little out of wack.

bmoore21184 0 #6 January 26, 2005 I don't think it was a spiral. They called it a 'butterfly' break. I thought it didn't look aligned myself, but the doc looked at it today and said everything is healing good and I should back to full strength in 6 weeks. lewmonst 0 #11 January 26, 2005 QuoteIs that the best they could do lining up the pieces? It looks like they're still a little out of wack. I'm not a doc, but I agree, it doesn't look aligned very well. I don't have a copy of my x-rays at that stage, but mine looked a lot better. It looks like the diameter of the rod they chose to put in is too small and allows that seperation that appears. Again, I'm not a doc, I've only been through it. I just hope it heal well. It looks like there still a few mm's of overlap in the broken bone(s). I hope that leg doesn't end up shorter than the other one. Again, I'm not a doc. But I can sympathize with your pain. Hang in there. I also hope those screws don't cause you the trouble mine did. I can say, if you brake something in Rantoul, insist on going straight to the Carle trauma center. My doc wasn't very friendly, but he did a good job on realigning the bones. peace lewhttp://www.exitshot.com
bmoore21184 0 #12 January 26, 2005 Did both sets of screws give you trouble or just the ones in the knee? The doc mentioned that the screws in my knee might cause me pain down the line and that they would remove them if the pain got too bad. Did they take yours out? Thanks. NWFlyer 2 #13 January 26, 2005 When in doubt, ask for a second opinion. Ask around to find a respected orthopedic surgeon in your area and arrange a consultantion with him or her. Heck, even if you're not in doubt, it's not a bad thing to get, and your own doctor shouldn't be offended by it - it's a common thing and you should be comfortable with the care you're receiving."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
