tea..??

Recommended Posts

I am a big tea drinker. Hot or cold. Nothing added unless I have a head cold or sore throat, then add lots of honey.
All of it needs to be decaf for me!

Here is my preferences:

*2 liter home brew of green tea in the frig at all times

*Chamomile if I need to relax or want a break from green tea

*peppermint tea is great hot after a big meal, helps with digestion and freshens your breath!

*Black Cohosh Root tea before and during the "girly" time of the month.

nooooooo not earl grey...!! i mean real tea

Shit. I'm in the US. Find tea instead of coffee is accomplishment enough. Next time I get to the UK, you can buy me some tea for the morning at the dropzone and the beer after the sunset load. Well, if you can see the sun through the crap weather in the first place...

Coffe in the morning (plenty of it and nice strong, made in a french press) and tea in the evening. Green with honey, black flavored, black with honey, black with milk and sugar...any kind. Earl Grey rocks!

tea rocks :)

I moved to california two years ago and have to import my own PG tips, or buy it at huge expense locally, I tried lipton yellow label and twinnings english breakfast, but it was no good, you can't beat a good cup of PG. My American girlfriend still can't make it properly even after 2 years practice, proper tea making needs to be taught from a very early age. And yes all the Americans in my office over here thinks I'm a little crazy about it.

The fruity stuff, yuck, filthy, doesn't deserve to be called tea. I mean why would you want to put dried pear and apple leaves in a cup of hot water and drink it, it taste terrible.

earl grey, but im just getting into it and am not sure best way to drink it yet. havent arrived at a formula. i added too much cream once and got this nasty ass substance....taken black it just seems somehow insubstantial even if brewed in the micro for 10 minutes.
now coffee i have a formula for...2 tablespoons o' instant coffee in huge mug nuked for 3 minutes 2 scoopps o sugar and one blop (thats a measurement.....one blop, two blops, you get the idea) one blop o milk.
its the soup that eats like a meal
my cat got ahold of some i didnt finish and took off like a model rocket leaving a cat shaped hole in a nearby cinderblock wall and burnout marks on the carpet. how am i going to explain this to the landlord

Orally, out of a cup :D:D
But seriously, earl grey is only just better than tap water, think of it as the bud light of tea.
Trouble is over here in CA when I visit the locals they go and by earl grey cause they think I'll like it.

That's the second mistake, do NOT put cream in tea, use fresh milk.

Holy fuck :o, that is the third and worst mistake, you nuked the tea leaves, destroyed the taste by doing this, and for 10 mins, I'm suprised you managed to drink it. You need boiling water, and that does not include the hot tap on the coffee machine, and you should pour the water over the tea, add the milk (not cream) after it has finished brewing, if you stick the milk in before it has finished it cools it down and it doesn't brew properly.

My girlfriend has been trying to figure this out for two years, with mixed success, and she has had expert instruction, so you'll need to give yourself time to get it right.:ph34r:

I just started drinking tea again. I wasn't aware of the differences but there is a difference. Earl Grey or an English blend is what I like the best. I'm not thrilled with Lipton, or green tea or herbal teas. I also like it black, no milk or sugar ( but I do like a cookie or something with the tea!) I have coffee in the morning but the rest of the day it's tea. What is a good brand I can find at the supermarket?

oh. ok, thank you..... i don;t know anything about tea, it just seemed one of those things cultured people did so i wondered why and bought some earl grey. i eventually nuked it cause i couldnt seem to get anything more than tinted water with a tea smell. it came out stronger but still somehow wrong. the boiling water i originally tried pouring on was, you guessed it, nuked. which makes it as wrong as the hot tap on the coffee machine. i'll try doing it the old school method of actually bringing the water to a rolling boil over an actual heat source like they used to back when everyone used real fire for cooking on.

I drink industrial strength tea. By the pint. If they sold pints of tea in pubs, I'd drink it.

Earl Grey, Camomile, Ginseng or any other namby pamby, arty farty "teas" are the epitomy of evil and must be stopped. Neither should Liptons be classed as tea, whatever people may tell you. It's not tea, it's wood shavings mascarading as tea. And all herbal teas are complete shite. Period.

The British Empire was built on tea and bacon sandwiches and I blame it's demise on crap tea and that imported bacon that boils in its own brine when you try to fry it.

phew..! finally people who know what real tea is.. :)
i'm just enjoying my third mug of PG.. hmmmmmmmmmmmm

the process of real tea...

put water in kettle
boil water
put te bag in mug (has to be PG tips, no mamby pamby crud. Pyramid bags are best)
pour boiling water in mug
use spoon to 'agitate' the tea bag, enfusing the flavour
when desired strength is acheived, remove tea bag to bin
add ice cold, full fat MILK (not cream..???) to taste. you may at this time also add sugar if you desire.
stir, and enjoy.

PG...

Its one of the ratings a movie can get in America. A PG rating lets parents know that it may not be sutiable for their young children and that parental guidence is advised...

Its a brand of tea.B|
As far as I'm concerned, most tea tastes crap, regardless of what you put in it.

"Drink much Iced Tea while you were in the land of milk and honey...I mean, Texas... "

A little, I recall the cans of Lipton's, but not nearly as good as Shiner.....B|
I got quite partial to those little jars of iced coffee though.:)

PG tips is a particular brand of tea. Namby Pamby crud is anything that isn't made by either PG Tips, Tetleys or Yorkshire Tea. The so-called English Breakfast teas. There are acceptable alternatives but one should be extremely carefull not to mistake good tea for crap tea or it could lead to all out war. Us Brits are serious tea connoiseurs. It's a matter of national honour.
