I was wondering if it was in subtitles, or dubbed over in english... I can't find info on line..

It's out on DVD... Nice action... storyline could use improving though, but on DVD, it has english subtitles.

If you like HERO, also pick up a copy of THE HOUSE OF THE FLYING DAGGERS when available.

The photography in those movies is amazing.

I haven't seen House of the Flying Daggers yet (not out on DVD yet), but I think Hidden Dragon, Crouching Tiger was the best movie to come out of China in a long while... better than Hero IMO...

Funny, only the Chinese have come out with those outlandish long air-times with those jumps and running across roof-tops and tree-tops...

They expect us to believe that shit is possible? :D

Still, I give them points for originality!

IMO, to understand and appreciate those movies, you have to take them as a legend or storytelling, let your imagination go wild.

anyone see Zatoichi the Blind Swordsman?

The new version with Beat Takeshi Kitano? The extras show how he was looking for a more realistic swordplay than in the usual samurai type fights....its a very cool movie, now on dvd....and the dvd has one of his yakusa movies (sonatine) included in the box....

Oh yeah I forgot all about that... all that bending out of the way of a bullet shit or fighting off 30+ clones singlehandedly shit? Nah... good for a laugh though...

The Leged of Zu is another good one. the story line could use a little improvement (i think some of it has to do with the translation leaving some gaps), but as for visuals and special effects, its very impressive.

Japanese samurai movie /= chinese legendary movie. If you want to talk about Japanese movies, then anything by Kurosawa hands down, Ikiru, Yojimbo; hell watch Hidden Fortress and you'll see just how much Lucas stole for Star Wars. Although Seven Samurai will always have a place in my heart!

A long while back, I saw a video called "Fighting Black Kings". It was one of the first videos that I have ever seen of an actual multi-style contact match.

Most of the video is BS and hype, but the actual fight video was excellent. People competing and using different styles. You really got to see what was effective.

Got in DVD with optional subtitles. Once of best films I've seen in years. The photography is excellent throughout. I may even go to the movies to see it in large screen format.

Maybe I'm biased, but NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY, could beat Bruce Lee when he was on top of his game. All the Bruce Lee movies had the best fight scenes - quick and brutal. Even Bruce had somewhat of a swagger, something that has been missing in most of the other Asian martial arts superstar actors...
