I played for 10 years (8 of those on a travel team) and stopped playing about 5 years ago... About 2 years ago I was invited to play with a few of my old teammates. I was surprisingly still pretty competitive among a lot of people who still played regularly, but I was only able to handle 2 or 3 shifts before being completely exhausted and in need of a beer
CanuckInUSA 0 #9 January 20, 2005 Quotestill have all my teeth, but only because I wear a full mask I have 4 different scars (they're not the easiest to see under normal conditions) on my face thanks to hockey (all these scars occured in the 70s and 80s). Two scars on my lip, one on my chin and one under my right eye. And it's a good thing I've been wearing a full face mask for the last 20 years as I know I'd be another Frankenstein had I not been wearing one. You see a couple of summers ago, I got pushed into the opposition's net and took a goalie skate to my face. Can you only imagine the damage that would have occurred had I not been wearing a mask? Hockey is one fun sport to play. But it's a rough sport and injuries do occur and often occur pretty frequently. skydiver30960 0 #11 January 20, 2005 Just remember to keep the skates under you at all times. I'm taking a few weeks off to heal a hairline wrist fracture (damn boards jumped right out in front of me) but otherwise I've been playing ice hockey for about a year now and luvvin it all. Slurp56 0 #14 January 21, 2005 I used to play roller hockey all the time and loved it. Problem is all the guys we used to round up have either lost interest or moved away. How did you get started? Eventually I'd like to get on a team, but have limited ice skating time. Did you sign up for a team and learn as you go, or did you go to the "stick & puck" nights? pointers please ________________________________________ I have proof-read this post 500 times, but I guarantee you'll still manage to find a flaw.
