Play Ice Hockey?

Recommended Posts

Haven't worn ice skates in about 30 years (I was 10), never held a hockey stick in my life. Got a friend that coaches all levels and today at 4 Im gonna lace em up and see if Im capable (coordinated enough) to play. Kinda expecting a bunch of youngsters to abuse me on the ice and send me home all beat to hellB|

wish me luckB|

Hockey, the sport for real men. Have fun and remember, your bigger than them so don't hesitate to knock them down;) Kids pick up ice hockey really quick. Most importantly, have fun:D

Have fun...

I played for 10 years (8 of those on a travel team) and stopped playing about 5 years ago...

About 2 years ago I was invited to play with a few of my old teammates. I was surprisingly still pretty competitive among a lot of people who still played regularly, but I was only able to handle 2 or 3 shifts before being completely exhausted and in need of a beer :P

still have all my teeth, but only because I wear a full mask

I have 4 different scars (they're not the easiest to see under normal conditions) on my face thanks to hockey (all these scars occured in the 70s and 80s). Two scars on my lip, one on my chin and one under my right eye. And it's a good thing I've been wearing a full face mask for the last 20 years as I know I'd be another Frankenstein had I not been wearing one. You see a couple of summers ago, I got pushed into the opposition's net and took a goalie skate to my face. Can you only imagine the damage that would have occurred had I not been wearing a mask? Hockey is one fun sport to play. But it's a rough sport and injuries do occur and often occur pretty frequently.

Just remember to keep the skates under you at all times.

I'm taking a few weeks off to heal a hairline wrist fracture (damn boards jumped right out in front of me) but otherwise I've been playing ice hockey for about a year now and luvvin it all.

I used to play roller hockey all the time and loved it. Problem is all the guys we used to round up have either lost interest or moved away.

How did you get started? Eventually I'd like to get on a team, but have limited ice skating time. Did you sign up for a team and learn as you go, or did you go to the "stick & puck" nights?

pointers please :)

Head out here, and I'll hog tie him for you;)

Ha!!! You're only hope is the fly swatter. Everything else is futile. Beautify day in Denver today. Too bad I wasn't jumping somewhere. Now how's that for changing the subject.
