Evelyn 0 #1 January 18, 2005 My daugher and I spent time with him at the vets and said our good byes. It was so hard cuz even though he was so sick he purred and rubbed up against us and went from Erin's lap to mine. He looked up at us as if to say take me home. OMG we felt so bad, cried buckets. This was one cat that had used his nine lives. Felix was 10 years old and had suffered from kitty lukemia and aids most of his life. Since his immune system was compromised he'd get sick easily, but he always pulled through. There were many times we thought we'd lose him but he'd always surprise us. This time the vet told us he could try to treat him but it was doubtful treatment would help and the humane thing was to put him down. Hard to let go - but he'd suffered enough in his life so we did the humane thing as the vet suggested. Felix will be cremated and I don't want to have his ashes sitting on an urn on the mantel, I want to scatter them on an ash dive. I hope this doesn't sound silly, an ash dive for a cat. Actually I don't care if it sounds silly, he may have been just a cat but he was part of our family. I've never done an ash dive so I need help to plan it . Thanks for any help. Evelyn 0 #6 January 18, 2005 I know Jim well. He was my mentor and kept me skydiving even when I'd get discouraged. I still visit him often. I'll talk to him. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
Michele 1 #7 January 18, 2005 Ev, so sorry to hear about Felix. There's nothing harder than making that decision...I've had to make it too. And it's so heart ripping sad. Remember this, though. Felix is free of pain and illness now, and is galloping around at the Rainbow Bridge...waiting for the day he'll see you and Erin again. I am so sorry...he was indeed part of your family, and it is indeed a loss. Hugs to you, my friend.
