OK, so I am kinda new to the boards with a whopping 18 posts now so I am just curious!

For those that do post a lot, what do you do for a living and where do you find the time?

most people that post durring the day work at a computer so they can stop by every so often and throw in thier 2 cents.. as for someof us hta have say 5,000 post it might be because we have been here for a while and have the time after work, beofre work, in the middle of the night.... someof us just get bored easy and turn tothe internet foe entertainment evy once in a while ( understatment).....

I think that pretty much hits it on the head... my job entails a lot of sitting around waiting for comms gear to break... so I have several websites that I browse through.

My job during the day has me just sitting in my office till noon. I bring other things to do while sitting there, but jumping in here and giving friends a hard time sure passes the time.

On weekends I don't post much, since I'm out doing other stuff, but I'm home today, and my reward for getting the house cleaned is to sit down with my lap top and poke in here off and on.

I've been in school since for the 4 1/2 years I've been on DZ.com, so instead of TV or napping or whatever during the day time between classes, I'd get on DZ.com. Instead of doing something else for 30 minutes during study breaks, I'd be on DZ.com. Instead of turning on the TV at night to relax, I'd be on DZ.com. I find it more fun. I also find it educational (not just about skydiving either).

Hell, when I'm at the DZ and the weather is shitty, I'll grab a computer and get on DZ.com.

I'm one of the "weird" ones, I post my ass off and I jump my ass off, breaking the overused stereotype from DZ.com nay-sayers that none of us jump much if at all, we just post away on the internet. Last year was a slow year for me and I still put something like 600 jumps on (I need to go check my log book to make sure).

This is a weird weekend, the DZ is closed for PIA and I don't have the money to go jump at another DZ, so I'm bumming around the house and such.

Ok, 45 minutes. Remember something, I type about 100wpm and I have a high speed connection, so I can navigate and post very very quickly.

Anyways, for the past couple of months, I haven't been in school and I've been in school off and on for the past 2 years, so I've had a lot of free time. Especially just being a skydiving instructor with no "real job." So I'd bum around online for a good few hours each day I wasn't jumping.

I use Nutscrape (netscape) with tabbed browsing, so its quick and easy to tab between the couple of forums I have open in the different tabs.

I guess a few of us have learned some nifty tricks on how to post a lot and quickly without wasting too much of our time.

Firefox is sweet... multiple windows with multiple tabs in each window....

Firefox is much better than IE, in my opinion - it's not as vulnerable to exploits.

It also has "tabbed browsing" - you can open a new window in a tab in your existing browser, rather than having a whole slew of windows open in IE.

Here's a picture. Think of it like a filing cabinent with the tabs of the file folders sticking up. You *could* have all of those folders on your desk for browsing, but its easier to have the different tabs, when you click on it it opens it up.

So you can have many many websites open in a single browser window.

So if you look at that pic, I have DZ.com and FARK open in one browser, I click on the tab that says Fark and that webpage is now open in the browser window instead of DZ.com, so I can get multipul pages loading all at the same time in a single window.
