mnealtx 0 #78 January 8, 2005 Quote Am I misinterpreting something? Yep, it means two things, actually: 1. I messed up a formula (corrected copy of file attached). Sorry everyone, I literally threw it together in 5 minutes and evidently didn't check it out thoroughly enough - Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. 2. I didn't put enough emphasis on this part of my original post: QuoteWeekly changes are negative numbers for losses, positive for gains. Ok, new file is attached. Enter start weight (or whatever), goal weight and weekly changes. Negative numbers for losses, positive numbers for gains. In the "Loss to date" block, negative means you're gaining (a negative loss), positive means you're losing. Clear as mud?Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. mnealtx 0 #79 January 8, 2005 As of Friday night (for y'all) / Saturday morning (for me): Deuce -1 mlneal +8 livendive -1 turtlespeed -3 mouth -3 Muenkel -2 Peregrinerose -1 freakshow -4 Breezejunky -5 NWFlyer -5 Mayberry -1.5 Bobsled +4 idoru99 -3 DZ.com weight loss total (Week1): -18.5 lbs. Pretty damned good for two days notice, I think. YAY, TEAM!!! Everyone else who chimed in, I've added you to the spreadsheet. A question for everyone - any preferences on how the data is put out? I was thinking change since last measurement / change left to goal would be good. What do y'all think? Also, is everyone still in agreement on Fri/Mon checkins? Or does weekly work better for everyone?Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
JeffD 0 #80 January 8, 2005 -0 Gotta get down and play some more racquetball. You woulden't believe how much of a workout it is. Anyone in Tampa, FL up for some racquetball? (got a court at my apt complex=free)
Deuce 1 #81 January 8, 2005 That's cool, Mike, the "team weight loss" thing. I'll be checking in Fridays and Mondays to motivate me to not overdo it on the weekends. If I don't gain from Friday to Monday it's a victory, and then there's 5 days to get a pound or two off.
mnealtx 0 #82 January 8, 2005 Hey, we're all trying to lose weight together, I figured "why not?"Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
SpeedRacer 1 #83 January 8, 2005 I'm going to keep track on the Excel sheet based on Friday measurements. I may or may not check in on Mondays. since I'm doing it by diameter not weight, it will take a long time, probably a few weeks, to lose even one inch. I think I read somewhere that one inch around the waist = 4 lbs of fat, and if you lose two pounds per week that would be two weeks..and that would be pretty rapid actually. ..anyway...best to lose weight slowly though... even if it is a little bit frustrating. ACMESkydiver 0 #85 January 8, 2005 QuoteDuring 6 way scrambles one of the female skydivers on the team I was videoing went low cause she had put on way too much lead. Somebody asked me how the dive went and I replied with something like "one of the divers took a leadership position in trying to motivate the others to increase their fall rate" After a couple of beats they laughed like hell. OMG I'm gonna use that the next time I jump with someone... um, 'cause I always go low. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. christoofar 0 #91 January 8, 2005 How about along with weight loss y'all also track a better number that's more important... bodyfat %? After all, when BF goes down, that actually proves you've been losing the weight you're trying to get rid of, and not lean muscle/water/kidney shutdown, etc? As of December I was at 17%, now at 16%. Trying to get back down to 11 to 10% by summertime (I've been as low as 9% before) Maybe oneday I'll look acceptable in a Speedo .. I'm not worried about my bodyfat % at the moment - I know that I'm overweight and it's a lot easier for me to track my weight than to try to track bodyfat %. NoShitThereIWas 0 #96 January 10, 2005 Whew Hoo!!! Off to a good start! I don't know how it is physically possible that I didn't gain weight with the alcohol consumption over the weekend ... but I have lost 2 pounds since Friday. I think what is helping me is that I made a huge pitcher of iced green tea and people say that that helps speed up your metabolism and is also good for killing off free radicals. I have been pretty good about watching what I eat too and exercising. So now I am at: 126/124/112/2Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." Sting: "Be yourself no matter what they say." mnealtx 0 #99 January 10, 2005 Super!
