Mayberry 0 #1 January 12, 2005 Looks like another one bites the dust. I was flippin' through stations on the drive home & thought I had hit a wrong button!!! Just to confirm I tried to go to their website & all I get is this. This sucks!! Anyone who lives in the DC area will know what I'm talking about. They played some cool stuff. Other than Elliott in the morning, DC101 tends to play the same songs OVER & OVER all day long. Don't get me wrong, I like Latin/Spanish music but WHY did they have to put it on WHFS??? Slappie 9 #2 January 12, 2005 Must be a ClearChannel station! They did the same thing to us here in Houston. Took a 30yo rock n roll station with a huge follow and turned it Latin / Latino / Spanish over night I read on some website that ClearChannel is going to be changing formats on close to 20% of their stations nation wide to the Latino format to tap the large number of imigrants from south america in the united states. It's all about the money man.. they could give a fuck about the listener or the music. NWFlyer 2 #4 January 12, 2005 Now *that* is sad. I haven't lived in the DC area for almost 10 years, but I remember HFS fondly. Alas, the corporatization of radio continues... Although it won't solve the car problem, may I suggest giving www.kexp.org a spin - one of the few surviving (and thriving) non-commerical (and non-public radio) stations around. I'm very lucky to be in their local listening area, but they do stream on the web, too, and have a huge listener base outside of Seattle."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
