GARYC24 3 #27 January 10, 2005 I can only make a left turn out of my neighborhood. The road is closed, farm land along the way. And just heard on news LaConchita, Ca..near SantaBarbara is gone..big mud slide, 1 death and their thinking more are buried alive!
Shotgun 1 #28 January 10, 2005 Yeah, I've been looking at the news too... lots of bad stuff going on from the rain. Guess I'm getting off easy in the area I live in...
Cayce 0 #29 January 11, 2005 Yeah, okay, I moved to SoCal 8 years ago from Seattle. Didn’t know what I was missing (the sun) since I grew up in Seattle. But after a few years here I will never go back except in summer and spring and only to visit... So this last two weeks have really been bumming me out. I've kind of gone catatonic and I'm flashing back to six months of drizzle like in the NW. AHHHH!!!! MMMAAAKKKEE IITTT STTTOOOOPPPPP!!!! I hope it gets better soon. I've got jumps to make, surf to catch, streets to jog, and all kinds of other outdoor activities that have been hampered by this crud...

bob.dino 1 #32 January 11, 2005 You can run in the rain. You can surf in the rain. Ok, jumping in the rain hurts, a lot, but otherwise just carry on...
freeflir29 0 #33 January 11, 2005 Quote At least the natural swoop pond at Byron is PHAT! WOW............last time I saw that pond it only had a bit of mud in it. No water!
Michele 1 #34 January 11, 2005 It's been really really bad. There have been more than 12 deaths reported, not including the one(s) in La Conchita. Lots of mudslides/rockslides and road closures, sinkholes, roads washed out (near my office). No tornado, thankfully... I left the office after the power went out, the phones went down, and I watched two trees topple; one into some cars (not mine), and one right down into the LA River (which runs behind my office.). I figured I'd best leave while I could, since no-one was looking at homes today anyway. Shawndiver 0 #35 January 11, 2005 The rain does help to keep the hikers and horse people down to a minimum on the trails for mountain biking_________________
GravityGirl 0 #36 January 11, 2005 It's our little winter and spring secret. Makes up for the cold days. Amazing sunsets watching the carnage. It's pretty wide, so it's all or nothing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
freeflir29 0 #37 January 11, 2005 Quote Amazing sunsets watching the carnage. I had some entertainment the day I was there. It was some girl's (Sorry forgot her name) 200 or 300th jump. The wind was HOWLING. Highest winds I have EVER jumped in but very steady and smooth. Poor girl got drug backwards through the little bit of mud and water. Amazon 7 #38 January 11, 2005 Gee nice and sunny at my house today in the hills to the east....and it was gorgeous looking up into Stevens Pass on my way to work...
happythoughts 0 #39 January 11, 2005 It wasn't raining here, but I had errands to run so I got to the dz kinda late. They were only flying one plane, so it was backed up. I got there as load 13 was taking off and manifested for load 16. I only got one jump in.
Cayce 0 #40 January 11, 2005 We can't surf in the rain. In SoCal the run off from the land caries all kinds of toxins into the sea. During a big rainfall like this there's all kinds of stuff just floating around in the shore break. There's no way I would go out there for a week or so after this kind of rain. Otherwise you literally get sick from all the CRAP that's in the water. Looks like tunnel time!
RippedCord 0 #41 January 11, 2005 Why is it that I moved here, again? Oh yeah, for the freakin' sun AMDG

Cayce 0 #43 January 11, 2005 Totally! I felt so bad for all the Britts and Germans at Perris these last few weeks. They come all the way over here for the infamous Calli sun and they get the biggest storm that we've had since the '97 El Nino.
Michele 1 #44 January 11, 2005 Where I am, it is sunny today. For the moment, at least. I can't see any clouds, just blue skies. The ground is saturated, though, and I don't think it'll dry out fast... But at least there's blue skies!!!!
