flyingferret 0 #1 February 25, 2002 This is not really related to skydiving, except a decent number of us seem to work in IT. I just saw the recent comments in the 3-way thread referring to Office Space. How many people here have not seen it? It is one of my favorite movies ever and absolutely a manifesto if you work in IT. Seems like every sentence in the movie is humorous if you think about it. Anyway, it is Monday, and I was thinking about Office Space and laughing my ass off. Plus it was on last night...so share your thoughts :)Yeah....I am doing the drywall up there at the new McDonald's...
AndyMan 7 #2 February 25, 2002 I see elements of all the major characters at every company I've ever worked for.The killer thing was that I was working for Molson when I saw it. The next day they announced I was losing my office and being relegated to a cubicle._AmICQ: 5578907MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
flyingferret 0 #3 February 25, 2002 Molson, ehh? Did you get free beer, ehh? Oops, wrong movie. I used to have a desk and I could see out the window and watch the squirrels and they were married.....and I could set the building on fire....
jfields 0 #4 February 25, 2002 Yeah, I'm an IT geek, but I have not seen the movie. What is the general idea of it?Justin
flyingferret 0 #5 February 25, 2002 Go rent it now!! It is basically about working in a cube farm and the typical nomadic/apartment lifestyle that most of us live. It is freaking hilarious for anyone that has worked in any large company, particularly in IT.The story tells of Peter Gibbons a software engine that wants a better way and hates his job. Follow Peter's exploits as he ignores the Man, watches kung fu and gets the girl. But he ends up missing a lot of work. Well, i would say I have been it missing Bob. msdeva 0 #10 February 25, 2002 Work in IT - love the movie!!! Especially when they go Goodfellas on the Xerox!Part of the movie was filmed in building across where I worked as a cocktail waitress in Austin. One afternoon Jennifer Aniston ran in and said, 'Give me a shot!' Guess it had been a long day...The best way to predict the future is to invent it. flyingferret 0 #11 February 25, 2002 Well word is that they based the movie on the TI in Dallas. I have no proof of that. But I think Mike Judge lived in Dallas at one time and the Dallas TI has a Friday's right across the street. As for the xerox, I filmed a reenactment of that as an easter egg for a multimedia CD presentation we did for a class project my senior year. I would up load it, but it is high-quality...about 80megs. Maybe I can find somewhere to stick in on the web.I gotta go, I have a meeting with the Bobs. diablopilot 2 #18 January 9, 2005 Just saw it. Too funny. Recomendations from people around hear were right. I have a few things to say: 1) My stomach hurts from laughing so hard. 2) Love the soundtrack. 3) I don't own a suit. 4) The last time I used a tie I don't think I was "wearing" it. 5) I could set the building on fire.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are.
