Technically, this is Deuce's brainstorm.

But in my opinion, whatever it is that we worked at should be reported. Even if it's pounds gained, maybe that person STILL tried.

If it's fitting into something we couldn't fit into, that doesn't necessarily mean poundage lost, but just moving it around. ;)

A goal is a goal, no matter what it is. It's just nice to know that we will have a support group to help us attain it, whatever it is!

For the folks who can afford one, the Tanita body fat monitor scales are really great. It can be very discouraging to gain weight while really hungry, and it's nice to know it's just water.

You can also check out body fat calipers. http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com/Pages/Calipers-pages-new/Accu-Measure-Fat-Calipers/Accu-fat-new.html Inexpensive ,11 bucks, and easy to use. I've gotten some funky readings with body fat monitors scales.

I don't want to post actual numbers either, since a *good* weight for me is so far off those government height and weight charts. (Too "fat" to be a stewardess back in the day when I was a size 8 with a flat tummy!)

We could do a weekly "Fat Bastard" check in and post our progress, but if we don't want to say our actual weight, a simple "lost 2 pounds" "my jeans are baggy" or "I'm not allowed in the base without lead anymore!" should do it, right?

OK then. Since Deuce started this whole thing on Tuesday Jan 4th, Let's make the next Fat Bastard Checkin thread on Monday Jan 10.

We could do this every Monday, and it will work out nicely this month since Jan. 31st lands on a Monday.

A stone is 14 lbs. Just for accuracy's sake.

Two stones is a tod, or a quarter. And 112 lbs (which is 8 stone, or 4 tods/quarters) is called a hundredweight.:S

Man, I love the metric system.

I'm with you on Monday and Friday. Could be kind of funny to see what kind of weekend pattern develops:D

I'm going to measure weight. Basically, if the weight is coming off, the inches are coming off. I understand the whole muscle weighs more than fat thing but regardless, if I lose 25lbs, I'm going to look better. If I lose it while gaining muscle, I'm going to look way better!

I wish I didn't like eating as much as I do like exercising!

Well, off to play water polo. Man, do I ever not feel like putting on my bathing suit right now!

I'm looking forward to starting to drop pounds and get back in shape in the near future.

Went from a very active lifestyle in NYC, walking everywhere (upwards of 3 to 5 miles a day) plus biking 50 to 100 miles per week plus kayaking 4 or 5 days a week, etc. to moving back in with my parents (and copious amounts of food) for 6 months as well as back into a car culture where nobody walks anywhere. I've gained almost 40 pounds in 6 months.

I start my new job on Monday and will be hiking upwards of 10 to 12 miles daily, not to mention going back on the "totally broke, unable to even afford junk food" meal plan.

In a way knowing the weight will drops is bad because I've been updating gear and need to buy some new clothes, etc. but don't want to buy a bunch of new stuff knowing the pounds will start coming off as quickly as they went on and it will all be too big.
Killing threads since 2004.

I like that. :)

I'm taking the San Francisco Police Department physical in Feb, and according to them, the max weight for someone my height (6' 4 3/4")is 226lbs. At 240 the BMI index calls me morbidly obese. These indeces don't factor in muscle mass or any other factors... so to even QUALIFY, I have to lose at least 14lbs in 35 days...

YAY!!!

Folks...I mean Fat Bastards, we must add one more rule and that is to keep laughing. Losing weight is tedious and boring...IMO. That's why we must keep a sense of humor about ourselves and pass the laughter on to the others.:)

Rapid weight loss program.

Go to Safeway.
Buy day old shrimp.
Leave on counter for 24 hours.
Consume.

You'll lose the 14 pounds in about 35 minutes, let alone days.
