PhillyKev 0 #2 December 30, 2004 What tipped you off? Was it "modalities"? Cause, you know, I try to slip that into a sentence at least twice an hour.
Slappie 9 #3 December 30, 2004 Setup a po box and have them send the check.. cash the thing and scoop the money.. You have their 5k and the container. I know, I know.. can't be done, because the checks are forgeries etc.. etc.. still a funny idea. Dumpster 0 #4 December 30, 2004 Yeah that crossed my mind - but I've got the full story how other folks were screwed royal - I told them to send me a check drawn on a US bank and when that check has cleared for 30 days they'll get thier container - I don't think I'll hear back from "Byron". shropshire 0 #11 December 30, 2004 Must be a scam - we wouldn't say "check" in the UK (but cheque) for a money order. (.)Y(.) Chivalry is not dead; it only sleeps for want of work to do. - Jerome K Jerome

bch7773 0 #13 December 30, 2004 you've never heard of this? its the nigerian scam basically. they send you a check worth much more then whatever they are buying... you are supposed to cash it, and send the remander of the money back to them... the only problem is that 2 or 3 weeks later the bank discovers their check was a fake, and will not give you the money, so you just sent several thousands of your own money to the scammer... along with whatever you were selling. PhillyKev 0 #14 December 30, 2004 And what they'll do is have you send the money to them Western Union and tell you all about how secure and safe it is and that you can have Western Union not release the funds until the check clears. But it's a lie, once you give Western Union the money, it belongs to the recipient. You can't have it held or get it back.

Yes but I had a nice "Dr Evil" Maniacle laugh when I got an email back from the Nigeria scam morons saying that they were having trouble opening my "account information." WFFC 1 #17 December 31, 2004 in the early days of spamming, i replied to a guy and basically said spam me again and I'll take your mail server down. He responded with simply "I'd like to see you try." According to my attorney at the time, that statement gave me full permission to try. Took me about 18 hours, but he was offline for about a week. The legalities after the fact? I sent a polite letter to this guys attorney advising that his client gave me permission to try to take him down. Never heard from them again. I just still wish I had the software that I did that with. I was so friggin cool.----- ~~~Michael
