smiles 0 #1 December 19, 2004 wow! this year is the first that my boys are not here to decorate!!! ...actually when they were little would let them decorate and wait till they went to bed and then change her a tad... So many memories pulling out decorations as every year they got to choose a new decoration for the tree each. This year they will still do that -but will wait to see their choice next weekend when they add it to the tree. I pulled the tree in this morning and pretty proud I got it to stand straight in the tree stand...by myself!! Just got a 5 ft. er and nice shaped grand fir. This year I found some blown glass starfish and luv them so much, think next year will use dried starfish for ornaments too. Downstairs just decorated some branches, and had to laugh when pulling out stuffed santa....his head needed repair, had to stich back together! Man, is he old....(was a gift to me when I was little..and he wasn't new then.......) yuck...I need a new camera... but posting these anyway. Would be great to see pics of other decked trees SMiles

Since it has cahedral celiings, I thought, "gee what the heck" and threw down (what seemed to me to be) an extraorinary amount of cash for the ... are you ready for this ... 12-Foot MONSTROSITY. FLOCKED. DELIVERED. I proceeded to decorate it witn: BLACK feather-boas (like 10,000 yards worth) as garland Ornaments in the shape of lions, tigers, zebras, and elephants (to go with the whole "jungle theme" living room. For an "artistic" touch, I took pictures of Zeus, the household dog (a fawn Boxer) wearing an black bow-tie ... stuck his pictures inside of clear plastic globes filled with fake snow, and hung 'em on the tree. I surrounded the base of the tree with stuffed animals (of course, jungle-themed as well) ... and the Tree-Topper was a stuffed monkey named "George." Of course, being a skydiver, I am, naturally, deathly afraid of LADDERS, and I recruited an unsuspecting neghbor-kid to CLIMB the 14' ladder to place "George" at the top. All the while, as I watched the kid, with little more than one hand and on efoot upon the teetering ladder ... All the while, I was thinking what I was going to tell the kid's mother if he fell off the ladder ... And, to all first-time-home-owners, I suggest you repeat the mantra I QUICKLY developed ... "Whatever it was, Mrs. (insert kid's last name here) It didn't happen at MY house, It must have happened down the street, at (insert name of Evil Neighbor here)'s house." Well, last year George, the tree, and the kid who climbed the ladder, all made it through the Holiday Season, safe and sound. Unfortunately, I spent so much money on "the monstrosity" last year, that I can't afford a twig nor branch to decorate this season. So, for cryin' out loud ... PLEASEEEEE SEND IN those pics of YOUR tree, and I'll print up 8x10's of YOUR Xmas trees all over that GAWD-forsaken, 12-Foot, empty wall!!! Merry F-N Christmas!
