efs4ever 3 #1 December 15, 2004 I posted Seagoville in the Trivia section, since it's been dead for about 15 years. I also saw old Decatur, Skydive Houston, Skydive Aggieland and Sport Flyers near Brookshire on my trip to Amarillo and back to Houston Sunday-Tuesday, December 12-14 2004. My goal is to someday see either someone in freefall or canopies while flying by in an airliner. The pic of old Decatur is not included because it was about 30 miles away. Russell M. AggieDave 6 #2 December 15, 2004 Yup, that's Aggieland. What altitude were yall at? It must be the pic, since usually we don't have airtraffic like that that low.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

AggieDave 6 #11 December 15, 2004 Probably Eagle Flight in Granbury, its just on the edge of DFW's wider patterns so sometimes there's traffic on the edge. Beyond that, until a month or two ago, that was the only other DZ in the area (since SD Texas closed).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #15 December 15, 2004 QuoteGainesville was an old military base. Ok, I didn't know, I've only heard stories from the likes of Doc Stewart, Wayne Keese and Kim Fuller, which I don't even know are true (although they're good stories). Is Gainesville still open?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

SD Dallas use to be directly under thier flight line, Lee Schlictmeir (sp?) fought hard and got it moved 2 mile East. We are constantly communicating with them and exiting around them. You can see the DZ coming into to Dallas. AggieDave: Gainsville is open but not for jumping. That would be a great place to, its a shame they had so much fun and got kicked out. Russell How bout this challange, what was that DZ's name, John Berke (father of Jack Berke, Deguello) ran it, we did a novice meet there in 1976 I packed 40 T-10's in one day at 10 years old. I remember I raised my price for that event from $.50 to $1.00 a pack job. I worked my ass off. Springcreek thats it. It was half way between Houston and Dallas? Any clues? JohnMitchell 16 #23 December 15, 2004 Working for the FAA, I used to ride in the cockpit of the airliners when I flew. One day, flying into Boise, the copilot, also a jumper, pointed out Boise's Star DZ to the pilot and me, and there was a student up on a big, fat student canopy, a mile or so away. Cool. Another time, going into Salt Lake City, our airliner flew right over Cedar Valley, my old Utah DZ. The urge to climb out was huge. I pointed out the DZ to the captain. He seemed appalled that I or anyone would want to jump out of an airplane. I didn't tell him my rig was in my carry on bag in the cockpit.
cocheese 0 #24 December 15, 2004 I was 1/2way into a head down solo at Pahokee Fl. last year when an Airtran Jet flew 1500 feet below and a little to the left of me. I was kicking my legs and waving , hoping some kid would see Superman or "something".Leaving the plane 3-4 seconds earlier and going a little faster down would have been real close. BillyVance 34 #25 December 15, 2004 One time I was flying into Philadelphia for a state record event at Cross Keys, NJ, we were getting ready to turn onto final, and I remember looking out the window and wondering if I could see the DZ from the plane, and right on cue, BAM! There it is! And the Otter was visible on it's climb to altitude too...
