There has been a DZ at Caddo Mills for quite some time. They are east of DFW.

Yeah, that was a total brain fart, forgetting about Caddo Mills. As many stories as I've heard from the "old time crowd" I don't know how I fogot.

As we approached Salt Lake City, they were letting everyone know about the skydivers in the area. We even heard one of our favorite phrases, 'jumpers away'

the dz inogden is always havingto fightwith atc about flights and stufas theyare on aproch to slc and the dz in tooele is always geting airtrafic from slc to going southwest (the direction)...... pretty cool sometimes..pretty not coolothers......ogden happens to be about 4 miles from hill air force base (where iwork) i getto pintout what hanger i workin and everything on the climb to altitude and every once in awhile there are f-16 flying by about a mile out to land that i watch while under canopy..some times i wonder if the planes are the ones i work on but i can never make outthe tail flash to see which squadron they are from...

Russell
How bout this challange, what was that DZ's name, John Berke (father of Jack Berke, Deguello) ran it, we did a novice meet there in 1976 I packed 40 T-10's in one day at 10 years old. I remember I raised my price for that event from $.50 to $1.00 a pack job. I worked my ass off.

Springcreek thats it. It was half way between Houston and Dallas? Any clues?

Sounds like Hockley. Closer to Houston.

Goddamnit, I've been looking for an electronic copy of that pic for a LONG time...Eagle Flight has some copies for sale, but they're hard copy...didn't want to have to scan it.

I think Doc Stewart knows who the jumpers were on that jump.

You have been around for a while, so I know that you will recognize this picture

I am surprised that no one has mentioned it.
It is a very old pic. It is real.

The mention of SW airlines and skydiving brought it up.

(It sometimes takes a while to load, depending on what server it lives on. )

I know everyone on the load. The photographer used an 80mm lens which pulled everything close in. Kinda like the DZ.com post that showed two big jets landing on parallel runways looking like they were doing it doggie style. :S

BTW the jumpers had complete clearance for the photo op dive. B|

Really?

Then I ask you, who was flying?

I ask since I was talking to the pilot today...

Come to find out, no one on the load knew about the plane until the vidiot developed his film, it was a surprise to EVERYone!

Well, talking to the pilot on Friday, the one who flew that load, he said that no one on the load knew about the plane. He had talked to ATC, gave one minute prior, the jumpers climbed out and left. Right after they left, ATC told him to hold due to traffic.

The jumpers didn't see the plane and the vidiot didn't see the plane until the vidiot developed his film. At that point, the photographer called the pilot wigging out that they were going to get in trouble, but it turned into a non issue. The SW pilot never saw the jumpers, the jumpers never saw the plane, everyone got VERY lucky and it turned into a very interesting picture. The plane was about 800-1000ft away.

The guy on the left is Randy Livingston, my AFF I/e when I got the rating. He showed us the picture back in '83, long before anyone had photo shop, so I think it's pretty real. He said it was quite the demo jump.

Ustajump (Jerry Felts) is the guy in the lower Rt looking down. Looks like he's wearing a hood.
