west33freefall 0 #1 July 29, 2008 Recently got my "A" license and now working toward my "B" and my coached rating. Definitly want to stay in the sport for a while and would love to help out and make a little money on the side. What all can a coach do and what could I expect once I get it. Also will def. start working on videography after quite a few more jumps but definitly want to do some video work in the future and recomendations would be awesome. hchunter614 0 #2 July 29, 2008 You can find the requirements for obtaining your coach rating as well as what you can do once you get it in the USPA IRM (Instructional Rating Manual). Here is a link to a PDF version of it. http://www.uspa.org/publications/manuals.pdf/2008IRMEssentials.pdf
millertime24 8 #3 July 29, 2008 I personally would never charge for a "coach" jump, but Im also not a "coach". It doesnt make sense to me to funnel more money to the UselesSPA for a rating that says I can teach people which is something I already do anyway (A licensed and above only mind you). dragon2 2 #4 July 29, 2008 AFAIK the only thing that'll make you some money is packing, with tandems coming in 2nd. Coaches don't make money (at least over here they don't), unless it's not coaching students/beginners but coaching for teams and the like, you need to be real good for that of course. Video, if you do it right it takes a whole lot of start-up money: at least 200 jumps, better is 500 or so, then paying your own jumps to practice, then getting free jumps, then maybe get paid for tandemvideos/AFF videos. But for the videos you need the suit, helmet, cameras, all the little stuff that adds up to lotsa $$$$, and probably you need 2 of everything, you probably also need a good laptop, pc or linear editing station, and very likely you will need 2 rigs. By the time you pay all of that off you'll need (want?) new toys If you want to do video, do it for the love of it not because of money, that's my recommendation That goes for coaching too. ciel bleu, Saskia
