It's Official: Bye Bye Michigan!

Recommended Posts

On December 15th, I’m leaving Michigan and moving to Vienna, VA, just outside of DC. I’ve been in Michigan, and at Skydive Tecumseh, for three years – longer than I’ve lived anywhere in a loooooooooooooooong time.

Skydive Tecumseh is by far the coolest dropzone I know. The people are so freaking awesome, the talent is outstanding, the new ownership and management is amazing, the airplane is fast and smooth, and the party scene is a riot. I’m really excited to come back for boogies and see how they are doing.

I’m going to miss my Michigan peeps, but I can’t wait to settle in down in VA and scout out a new dz. If any dz.commers in the area want to hang out, I’d love to meet some folks – drop me a PM and we’ll go grab a drink or something.

Vienna, VA is a great community! I used to live just down the road and dated a woman from there. It's got more of a "small town" feel than most places in the DC area, but it's still very accessible to shopping, culture, etc.

Local DZs include Skydive Orange (near Culpeper), Skydive Virginia (Louisa, VA) and Hartwood Paracenter.

Thanks, girlie! :)
I'm moving for a few reasons...

- Much better job market.
- I have a sister with her family down there that I miss a lot!!
- I have a really hard time staying put.
- I hate the cold - and Michigan is, well... cold.

I actually can't wait. A certain someone else is coincidentally moving down to Vienna a month after me. Life is good. Change is healthy. This should be cool. :)

There goes the neighborhood..........:P

Just kiddin'!! Woo-Hoo!! Welcome to the area, I think you'll like it!! One of the downfalls is traffic is a MFer (especially this time of year) but you get used to it. There's plenty to see & do around here & several DZs to choose from. Welcome to Virginia!!!

:)

Ha... Yup... you guys are done for. :P

Oh, and no doubt about the traffic!! I noticed that when I was visiting a few weeks ago. Dayum! Oh, well... if that's the worst I must deal with, so be it. :)

That was my FIRST thought when I saw the thread. What about "The Boy?" :D Hope it goes well for you! You know if you pass through Atlanta for any reason I'm here for you! ;)

Yeah. You know I wouldn't go without him. ;) And if we are EVER in Atlanta, you can count on a visit Sheep Boy. B|:P

The NOVA (Northern Virginia) area is nice except for the beltway traffic. Skydive Orange is the shit. They are some of the nicest people around hands down. Also living in Vienna puts you closer to Orange than the others, not that the others are that far. I love visiting Orange, they have the best traditions.

Awright, an early WELCOME to the neighborhood. I'm a couple hours away from DC but the gf's friends and families are there so I get to hang there once in a while.

Most of the important stuff has been covered already in this thread: cost of living and traffic will be quite a bit greater than you're used to, but there's SOOOOO much to do in the area that it can be worth it.

And although Orange already has a couple votes, I'm going to put in another one. I started jumping there this spring after moving into the area and have been having a BLAST ever since.

December 15 is SOON! Good to hear it. Drop me a line when you get in the neighborhood...
